I am sad.
Nothing worse than that, professionally speaking. At my old job we got to work from home until a new boss came on board and wanted everyone in the office. We all got our own offices, but then the boss didn't like how it was too quiet and how people could shut their doors, so they took our offices away and made us go back to cubeland. Ironically, everyone was far more productive in their offices because they could shut out the noise and focus on what they needed to do, but why would that ever matter?

We're just growing too fast and are outgrowing our office space. There is talks in the works of adding another location or moving to a bigger office, but who knows.

I don't work best being in an open space, and I can only assume that the adjustment back will be even worse. I get distracted, I don't like when people can hear what I'm saying, and always feel under a microscope. Ugh.

Been in cubes or open cubes for roughly 4 years now, and I still feel this way. Any chance I get to book a room for conference calls or live meetings, I jump on it.

I interview people. I offer jobs. I talk about medical information. I talk about employee relations issues and discipline. It's the worst.

There are 3 other HR people that do the same thing and sit in cubes so I know it's not a concern of the company (it should be), but I just think it's crappy.

Yeah...you should be in an office if essentially all of your phone conversations are private in nature. That's not good.

I am a cube monkey but all of the HR Managers/Recruiters have offices and we aren't moving to open floor plan (so far).

I am not looking forward to moving over to Google Cloud tho. Ugh!

Sooooo I have to go to LA next week. Basically there's something bad going on with the HR Manager out there performance-wise, I can't tell if she is getting fired or is on leave right now, but I need to go out there and do some investigating on how much she sucked at her job.

Did you study to do this in college? If so, did you realize at that time that you'd basically be a corporate hatchet man?

I was a marketing major. I studied how to speak to your self concious.

Being HR for HR is tough. I've done investigations before, but never for someone on my own team.

My old boss used to fly around the country and fire people...like that George Clooney movie. Hey, someone has to do it!

As long as the checks clear, right?

I'd hate having to do that crap personally, but I get that it needs to be done by someone...

We've been talking about HR people in business communications class. About how to make our resumes and cover letters stand out. Always have had a resume but never a cover letter. Then again I have never needed a cover letter.
