Jiri Tlusty quietly having a very good season

He's playing really well. Career season so far and he's putting up 1st line numbers... 21 goals and 34 points in 45 games compared to a former high of 17 goals and 36 points in 76 games. As a former high 1st rounder(13th), do you guys think he's finally starting to live up to his draft status and potential? Is this his break-out season or will he plummet back to 30-40 points again?

He's finally living up to his potential. I'm so glad to see that my prediction that Tlusty would outscore Kessel was half right.

This is really another "underrated" Toronto topic in disguise, you can't fool me.

This hasn't been quiet at all. Tlusty has had threads this season, and he's been talked about quite a lot.

Had to check contract status. Another year before RFA status. It's evolution baby.

TMLs have the most former prospects and picks playing on other teams top lines

It's not been THAT quiet, but yes he has been very good this season. He has proven to be a much better complimentary player than anyone expected.

Well that would have been foolish to predict.

I hated having to convince myself Tlusty is better than what he obviously was. Weird to see him be this successful, but happy for him.

Another great trade by Burke by dealing him from Toronto to the Hurricanes

He is a perfect complimentary player and very responsible everywhere on the ice. Always seems to be in the right place at the right time.

Why? I was half right.

(of course, I was also half wrong, but let's forget that part)

They should sign him to a colossal deal, like the one Semin got.

they drafted him. it was that organization and no other that recognized his talent and potential and then graciously allowed him to flourish by sending him to Carolina.

I`m not overly imnpressed by his points (21+13), as he is playing mostly with E.Staal and A.Semin. It`s his teamleading +18 that impresses me the most!
Compare that to J.Staal, who everyone thought would be some kind of Selke-winning 80p/yr scorer when he gets to play 1st/2nd line duty. J.Staal is 9+19, with a team secondworst -19.
