I give Chael a chance for the same reason I gave Vitor a chance -- because he wants it. Physically, Vitor was the smallest guy Jones has fought and, on paper, he was the most overmatched, but he gave Jones his toughest test by a mile.

Chael's wrestling is ferocious. Nobody has any idea if Jones can fight off his back, and Chael might be able to put him there. Jones has submission wins but they're top-position submissions (ie: ground-and-pound submissions, not BJJ guard submissions). There's no in-ring evidence that Jones's BJJ game is anywhere near as good as Anderson Silva, Paolo Filho or Demian Maia's, so we'll see ...

Belcher / Bisping would be a decent PPV main event or a great free TV one. Nelson might be able to do to Kongo what he did to Kimbo, but that fight screams KOTN to me. Phil Davis / Vinny Magahales is perfect wrestler / BJJ matchup. And I'm getting to the bar early, because Rustam Khabilov might already be my favorite fighter at 155 ... dude's sambo / wrestling game is on another level. Strong card.

That's him.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ox3P_rT6c8g

Some of these fights are against silly competition (1:23 I think he's fighting in a church), but beatdowns is beatdowns. World Champion sambo + Jackson guy = look out. Dude's from Dagestan, so the smart-but-stupid fans at the fight will be booing him throughout.

I hate to nit-pick an otherwise very good post, but there's no way Bisping v Belcher would be a decent PPV main event.

But I'm looking forward to this card as well although I think there are a few squash matches on the card.

Sonnen looked much lighter yesterday already. He was probably walking at 235lbs+ at TUF.

He has to be done if he loses this one. Four losses in a row right now and if Phan didn't get screwed by the judges, Garcia would be 0-5 in the UFC with six straight losses overall. I don't think his wild non-technical striking and ability to take a punch can save him. But I hope he wins so we don't have to watch McKenzie in the UFC anymore.

Obviously Garcia has been gifted numerous decisions, but let's not forget he got screwed by the judges against Holloway. Garcia clearly won that fight IMO.

"Decent PPV main" = "Would a Belcher/Bisping co-main have saved UFC 151?" and I think the answer is yes. I think people sleep on Alan Belcher. He lost SD's to Akiyama and Okami, and those guys are huge, judo-smash monsters. Regardless, this fight should be up-tempo and exciting ... Belcher played footsies with Rousimar Palhares and won, but his standup is probably better than his ground game. Can see Bisping winning standing or in the clinch/dirty boxing, or Belcher winning anywhere.

I think Sonnen gives him a really good first round, but Jones just opens up on him in the striking game in the 2nd, gets him down and subs him with one of those muscle subs.

I don't know if I can see Sonnen taking Jones down. I don't see how this fight could be anything other than a one-sided smashing just like every single other one of Jones' fights.

The only one who came close was Vitor off savy arm bar attempt and when that failed he just got the **** kicked out of him until he eventually was tapped. Sonnen doesn't have that hail mary in him. Not with subs and not with knock out power.

He'll almost certainly take him down. Sonnen's double leg is in a whole different stratosphere from anything that Jones has seen in MMA. I understand that Jones is one of the elite wrestlers, but that's going to be something that he's going to have to learn how to handle inside of the cage.

Jones did say today in the conference call that he's been practicing on stuff off his back more than any other fight he's had, so he is preparing for when Chael takes him down.
