Well, I often question why he even has a goalie stick. He can't play the puck, can't poke check, can't stop passes across with stick, can't move it, has no clue how to use his stick, and doesn't use it to stop pucks crawling along the ice and going in between his legs.

He does wave it around in the air as a fly swatter quite well. Although in fairness he is quite adept at deflecting shots from the goal line in with his stick. At least he's making contact with the puck occasionally.

I've rarely seen a goalie so inept with his stick. Its as if its an alien object he has no experience with. If only it was a light sabre he might have the force..

It's very simple: as an NHL goalie you drop down to your knees every time the puck is directed at the net with your stick on the ice.

If you don't do this it's because you aren't paying nearly enough attention to the game and/or you're lazy.

Every goal that goes in along the ice that isn't immediately following a cross ice pass is his fault.

I love how many of the same guys who will jump all over Eberle for missing the top corner on an open look will go to the ends of the earth to defend Dubnyk when he spaces out during games.

heh

Understatement is rarely my issue. Thanks for allowing the piled on rant.

Man I miss Roloson and somebody that could wield his stick.

I'm resigned that Dubs is never going to be a puck mover but I do want him to work more on using his stick along ice and using it to deflect passes coming across. He does not interfere with passing lanes in the slightest. A good goalies uses his paddle to deflect passes out of harms way.

But it wasn't directed at the net until it deflected off Campbell. It was a fluke goal. Crucify him for the crap goals he has let in, not the flukes.

Totally agree. Can't stand his rebound control as well. I'm routing for him, but he could end up a career backup as early as next year, depending on whether MacT finds a legit prospect champing at the bit.

Freudian slip or tongue in cheek brilliance?

heh

Interesting point with MacT who's played with, and had, some excellent goalies and would properly have higher than Dubnyk expectations. Can't see him being too pleased if performance is status quo.

The Swiss are beating everyone now. Maybe because they got rid of a coach that was holding them back?

Campbell was standing in front of the net with the Belarussian player. Dubnyk needs to cover off the bottom of the net on that play. It was a crap goal.

Had it deflected of Cambell's stick and gone over his shoulder, Dubnyk would be blameless.

Different situation.

Team USA is a younger team in general.

That's probably Replacement's point.
Maybe, but my point is also that Ruff likely is more familiar with him. He is likely still working with Hall to learn what role he wants out of him. Obviously it's not scoring at this point.

To me, it just reinforces the lack of awareness Ruff has as a coach.
I remember Team Canada teams that took Rob Zammuner over Mark Messier. So what?

Hall is obviously not the go to scoring guy he is here on that team. I am pretty sure Ruff knows he can score. That being he case, he is playing a third line role. I don't get bent over it. I love Hall as much as the next fan.

I was tuning into this thread for updates and quality observation of play. Not people jumping down someone's throat for explaining why Hall doesn't get the ice time that more dependable players are getting.

When people turn these threads into a piss-cry-moan fest, it ruins it for everyone.
I will take this as a compliment, however backhanded.

Hall didn't really do anything in the Belarus game. When his line is on the ice, Duchene has the puck. If Duchene doesn't do anything, nothing happens. And Duchene didn't do anything.

Eberle/Hall's best shift was when they got on the ice with Stamkos at center and actually got to touch the puck.
