Very deserved. All the Oilers were crap today, as was much of the team. They could have benched half of them the way they played.

That turn over by Hall... yeesh. He needs to work on what he does as he crosses the blue line really badly.

Like Spec said, there is a reason we aren't a playoff team. Are best players just don't have all the tools yet.

Say what you want about Dubnyk, but the Bishop was way worse.

Eberle with Duchene and Staal.
Hall with Skinner and O'Reilly.

Ruff's lack of knowledge about the Western conference is really apparent. Hall and Eberle with nothing minutes, Simmonds and Read in the top 6. No wonder Canada is brutal at the WC.

Agreed.

Even given some curious selections and odd use of personnel on paper this Team Canada should be plowing through what is essentially a "Spenglers Cup" quality of opponents. Some real weak opponent lineups here disguising how bad Ruff's handling of this club has been.

I can't believe I was pushing for the Oilers to hire him. He's just a bad coach now. Could he not watch a few dozen western games after he got canned?

And some of StevieY's player choices really leave me scratching my head. Why fill up the D with 4-6 D-men before the 1st round is done, and then set a limit on the roster size?

Seriously, if Canada can't even add players without making those that already agreed to go getting all whiny then maybe we should just stop going to the WC completely. Or start building teams out of Canadians playing in Europe when their seasons end and leave the crybaby Canadian NHLers out of it.

A little surprising, imo, but I guess he's auditioning depth guys for Sochi and beyond?

Maybe a lot of guys said no?

Well Yzerman did say no one else would come in, so I wonder if this is more Yzerman keeping his team intact and bringing up someone that is willing to be a PB fodder.

For whatever reason it doesn't appear Yzerman wants to disrupt his forwards.

Is Schwartz really even the best option from STL? Chris Stewart or David Perron?

What a joke. They couldn't find a more ineffectual player in that series. 0 goals, 0pts, 0 impact and looked every bit of a rookie out of his element playing a better team.

All the quality players on the Blues and we add a raw rookie that is in a slump?

Part of this is the willingness for players to go over and team consent isn't it? Maybe nobody else was wanting to go or got consent to go

Maybe this is more of a "have a look" tournament for Hockey Canada.

Yeah, I got nothin' on this one.

Team Canada management is a joke. Isn't Lowe still involved? Isn't KP when it comes to the WJC? 'nuff said on subject.

I think the joke is having the tournament when the biggest league in the world is still playing. Only the Euros and guys that are desperate to make the olympic squad really care about this tourney.

TSN saying Eric Staal is moving to the wing with Duchene and Eberle.

I wonder if we'll see Read moved to center with Hall and Simmonds on his wing?

Would be a good energy/excellent skating line.

I also think Staal will benefit from play with Duchene and Ebs.
