Leddy vs Fowler

Which young PMD do you think is better player at this moment?

Both thrown into fire and learning on fly at NHL level (As 19 and 20 yrs old)

Leddy so far

10/11 = 46 GP with 4 goals + 3 assists -3 (14:19 ATOI)
11/12 = 82 GP with 3 goals + 34 assists -12 (22:05 ATOI)

Fowler so far

10/11 = 76 GP with 10 goals + 30 assists -25 (22:08 ATOI)
11/12 = 82 GP with 5 goals + 24 assists -28 (23:16 ATOI)

I think Leddy is better defensively and seems to be picking up defensive aspects of NHL quicker but that Fowler is better offensively and has higher upside (His size advantage over Leddy will help him better up against bigger forwards)

Fowler. I know everyone will point out his +/- but his defensive awareness has improved so much in 1 year and I didnt think he was a liability to being with.

He started this year as the only bright spot on the team while we won 2 games in a month, but when Vis went down and he started playing 27 minutes a night his play dropped. When BB was hired he seemed alot less focused on offense and more worried about the back end and I think we was even in his +/- in the last half of the season.

No poll?

Pretty easily Fowler. Both are nightmares defensively and good offensively, but Fowler plays much more difficult minutes and more of them.

I'd say Fowler based on what I've seen, but I honestly haven't watched either of them enough to make that choice w/ confidence.

Hawks are my third team so I see plenty of them...the bolded statement is as ignorant as it gets. They aren't nightmares. They aren't rock solid by any stretch of the imagination, but there are much worse defenders.

From what I have seen, I voted Leddy. I think he is the better player at the moment. I was really impressed with Leddy for all but three of the 10 or so games I watched him in (the two were Oilers blowout wins IIRC, and not a single Hawks player was impressive in those.) Fowler looks like a 20 year old dman playing in the NHL, sometimes he gets a little lost but you know he is going to be good. In the future I think Fowler is the better dman but I wouldn't be surprised to see it go either way.

Leddy is a very poor defensive player. Obviously there are the Marc-Andre Bergerons of the world, but Leddy is very poor defensively. It should raise a red flag to even people who don't watch him that a guy who scored at almost .5PPG isn't a lock for a top-4 spot on his team's blueline. And Fowler, while he did play very tough minutes, wasn't particularly good defensively.

Hmmm, I'd have to say Fowler was the best of any Ducks dman, in terms of positioning and awareness in the defensive zone. I also believe his +/- was pretty constant the last half of the season or something like that.

Beauchemin?

He was miles ahead of anyone when it comes to consistency. Both Fowler and Sbisa had moments of greatness but nothing sustained.

I'll take Fowler every day. He's going to be much better, IMO.

A product of youth. Not being terrible defensively.

Fowler 11 times out of 10. He is playing against tougher competition.

I'm not saying he is, but consistency is his largest problem right now. And yes, it is because of youth.

He looked pretty solid when paired up with JMFJ at the WCs. Even with Faulk tearing it up, there was never any hint that Cam was getting pulled off the top pairing.
