ECHL: Update on CBA

Wednesday Sep 24, 2003

PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association have been engaged in negotiations for a new Collective Bargaining Agreement since Wednesday, September 24, 2003.

The negotiations are continuing. It is expected that these negotiations will continue through the weekend.

No further comment is anticipated until Monday, September 29, 2003.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

It's good to know that they are at least trying to get something done. Hopefully the negotiations will be fruitful.

Something needs to be done... and SOON!

If the ECHL resorts to replacement players, it'll be a joke.

Should a strike continue

Should a strike go on for a while, where will players be released to from their AHL teams?

Another update on the ECHL site today, but this isn't much:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Monday Sep 29, 2003

PRINCETON, N.J. – The ECHL Board of Governors were updated via conference call on Monday about the status of Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association.

“We have continued to communicate with the PHPA as recently as Monday morning and we have updated our members,” said ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna. “Discussions remain constructive and positive.”

No further comment will be made at this time by McKenna, the ECHL or its member teams.
