Lol, this reminds me of last season when all of our fans were saying "They never played us with a full healthy lineup including McDonald." I love our defensive additions but LA would still beat us.

In other news, how awesome would Lehtonen be on this team?

Feel so bad for him to play lights out and have his team mail it in at the end of the game like that.

Pretty sure Carvin needs to start the day-early GDT jinx thread.

A team that might have "momentum" going into the playoffs would probably go 12-3 in April and win 6 out of their last 7. Just Saying

@jprutherford Hitch on Perron: “I was very impressed with his response. It comes to this sometimes. I was very impressed with his response." #stlblues

Word was he got even a little emotional about it. Heard that referenced on radio postgame.

No one talked about this scenario, but I wouldn't even mind playing the Sharks as the 5th seed.

We have a good road record and, as seen from this game tonight, I think we'd totally handle them.

I doubt the Kings lose all their remaining games though.

I agree, but it just wouldn't be "me" if I did it now.

Come with me...and you'll be...in a world of pure procrastination.

Any word on Jackman? I was at a buddy's house. Heard he left the bench for a while, did he ever return?

He blocked a shot, sounds like Hitch might hold him out for Thursday and get Russell in there. But it didn't sound too serious. As in, he could play if it were a playoff game.

That's what I'm saying, as long as we stay behind the Sharks we cannot play LA. Possibilities:

4. LA 5. SJ 6. STL
4. SJ 5. LA 6. STL
4. SJ 5. STL 6. LA

That's why the LA rooting is more ambivalent. If the Sharks win both remaining games then the Blues should have an opponent against whom they match well.

That said, traveling LA losing to desperate, rested, home Detroit tomorrow in the early game suddenly makes getting into the 4-5 pairing with San Jose a real possibility. Only problem is even if LA loses in regulation and San Jose wins, LA still controls their own destiny vs. the Sharks – a regulation win Saturday and LA finishes ahead of San Jose no matter what happens in the games tomorrow.

If LA beats Detroit and San Jose loses to Phoenix in regulation tomorrow, we're probably facing LA round 1.

This assumes we win both of our remaining games.

I think we beat Calgary, but we don't beat the Hawks, which puts at 58pts (59 tops with an overtime loss).

Safely in the sixth as long as both LA and SJ win tomorrow night, and then it doesn't matter what happens with their match-up on Saturday (the key is the Hawks beat us...but knowing our luck, we'll probably win that game).

Nah we'd need 1-3 points depending on the final SJ @ LA game and how many points SJ got in it. If LA wins and SJ loses in regulation tomorrow, LA clinches finishing ahead of San Jose no matter what happens in their final game. San Jose would have 57 points going into that final game, and the Blues own the tiebreaker. That's why I was saying likely the Blues get those 1-3 points.

Basically we'll know a lot more this time tomorrow about what the Blues situation is.

Asymmetric magic number to clinch over Minnesota for at least 6th. Blues have to either earn 2 or Minnesota has to miss out on 1.

For those who prefer to play Anaheim it can happen in a couple ways, but both involve the Blues losing twice and the Wild winning twice. The Wild must win twice, but if even one of those wins is in a shootout then the Blues must lose both in regulation. If both Wild wins are ROWs, then one of the Blues' losses can be in OT/SO.

No disrespect but I will never ever cheer for Detroit! I would rather play LA and have Detroit miss the playoffs.

I still don't understand the logic of not wanting to get the highest seed possible even if it does mean we would play the kings. The Kings are 12th in the west in goals for. And they are 8-11-4 on the road this year. I don't think they could consistently score on us unless Elliott has another epic collapse. Get home ice against the Kings and I like our chances. I will also say once again, Quick is not the same goalie this year after his offseason surgery. His lateral movement which is probably his biggest strength has suffered. Maybe he will turn it on in the postseason but I doubt it becuase his struggles are physical not mental.
My thinking has nothing to do with a glory road to the cup for me, it's a fact that the higher seed you are the easier road to the cup you have. If anything we should hope we get the 4 or 5 and that a 6,7,8 wins a first round matchup and we avoid the Hawks in the 2nd round. They are alot better team than LA. But as for LA if you wanna crown them then crown em. (Insert Dennis Green clip).

Agreed. Plus if we beat LA in the first round, then I really like our chances moving forward. That would be a huge emotional boost for the Blues and one that could give them the moxie to take us to the Cup.

If we loose to LA in the playoffs, it is more likely to force Army's hand next year. The Blues still have some personnel issues to improve. I would rather us not win a series or two and become complacent with our team.
