This would only excuse a portion of the stupidity, but depending on the paper, a lot of times the author of the article doesn't write his own headline. It's added afterward by someone else.

It's from the Ottawa Sun. Enough said.

The Sun is like the Fox news of Canada.

That would make it worse no? It adds another person to the stupidity.

The Ottawa Sun doesn't have a sports editor; Tim Baines has that as his nominal role, but the articles are so poorly written and so devoid of content you understand why it seels for 25 cents Canadian.

Give an educated, well-schooled writer 5 cents (25 divided by 5 articles) and see what he writes. He's a troll that got trolled by the Penguins' troll.

You are right on the money with this!

All of Sun media is horrible. It doesn't matter which Canadian city you are in.

Basically, it's opinion peices passed off as 'news'.

I wouldn't wipe my ass with the Winnipeg Sun, i figured the opinion was mutual for other sun branches.

If i want sports news i'll read TSN, Puck Daddy (although that isn't exactly the most credible source) etc

And the best part is that Sun media is now charging people for online articles. You get the first 20 per month free, then you have to pay after that. When they set it up, I don't think they realized that there isn't 20 articles per month worth reading.

Try the Ottawa Sun. A buddy of mine brought one on a camping trip and had to use it for that purpose. Said it worked pretty well.

What will Brennan write about if Pittsburgh raises the Cup this year? It's a scary thought.

How the Sens should try to sign Cooke in the off season.

Not only that, but you can just open another browser (Firefox, IE, Google Chrome) and it resets, or you can just clear cookies...genius plan by computer neanderthals has been thwarted...

And this is why I'll never give up hope that one day I can become a successful (or at least widely published) sports writer.

Absolute garbage is published in newspapers all across Canada.. Maybe one day, I could be one of them :')

"Nice way to show your thanks to the fans for their support," said Brian Samuel, a regular ticket-buying customer at Scotiabank Place who was sitting in Level 2 wearing a Senators jersey and surrounded by his buddies in Leafs and Blackhawks colours.

"That's a garbage pick. They could have had him in the second round."
Ha ha poor Brian Samuel forever to have his name associated to this.

Not only that-all of this talk, and nothing happens. No fights, no line brawls. A team supposedly fighting for a spot in the playoffs loses to a team without it's top 6 players.
Are you serious?

I wish this would get that idiot Brennan fired, but probably not.

He is a weasel that gets off on writing things about a player, then seeing said player, knowing said player would like to punch his lights out but can't do it (lawsuit, jail). There's a 5 letter word starting with P to describe this type of person.

He will pick on a player endlessly, even if the player has improved and is playing well. He still has taken a few shots at Gonchar, even though Gonchar has played very well this season.

But any player who can fight and hit is a hero to Don, even if he is a terrible player.

Brennan isn't the worst writer in the world, but his ability to evaluate what he sees on the ice is close to that of a blind monkey. If he likes the player, the player can do no wrong. If he dislikes the player, he can do no right.

Brennan is basically the toilet of Canadian NHL writers. The worst writer on the worst newspaper in town.

The Sun won't fire him because they are the Don Brennan of newspapers.

"That's a garbage pick. They could have had him in the second round." Everybody (except Brennan) knew that Burke / Anaheim was taking Karlsson at 17, thus the trade up.

Yeah, it certainly depends. One of the papers I worked at, I was also responsible for headline for my stories. I suppose I was an intern/rookie at the time, so that's all fair game.

The guy thinks he's funny and I think that some of the other sport media "professionals" in Ottawa thinks he's funny too. It's embarrassing. He was on the local sports radio station a few weeks back and they had him reading the listeners emails. He could barely read and blamed it on the poor writing skills of the emailers.

When a writer makes Bruce Garrioch appear good in comparison, you really have to shake your head. That said, the Sun papers are garbage and pander to the lowest common denominator.

Anyone who sees this as a reflection of the fanbase in Ottawa needs to give their head a shake.

Besides fwiw Brennan is a Bruins fan still grinding an axe over the Savard incident, under the guise of the Karlsson one.

Take it from a guy who lives there. Between the Sun and the Citizen (a paper with a pitiful sports section in its own right), the choices for good sports journalism in this city are slim and none.

You can bet that the Sun will be whining about last night's game for a while.
Lots of truth here.
