Oh, and going off what Cin was saying about Whitney and Cole not being on the same line...

Well Roussel can be taken off that line, but ultimately... we find a place for Morrow.

If i had to guess on Whitney's return i would doubt it's thursday unless someone is reporting that. In the beginning of February they were saying 4-6 weeks and they said they have to be careful because if he comes back to soon he could easily re-aggravate the injury to the point where they would have to put screws in his foot. So i would almost say give him more time to heal, and hope for him back towards mid-march or the end of march.

@DallasStars

#20YearsInBigD celebrations continue! We started it last night and will continue to play the old, familiar #Stars goal song every 4th goal!
Don't get it but ok...

It's almost as if they accidentally played the wrong goal song and now they're just going with it.

Motivation? Maybe the team hates the new goal song so much they feel rewarded on the 4th goal

on fb it said every time they scored their 4th goal it would be played. That would make more sense but we wouldn't hear it as often.

Don't get how it makes more sense...

Very weird. It's like they got tired of hearing people complain about the new one so this is their way of saying "see look, we're listening," or something. Just like they did with Darkness after the away goal...and playing it only for 3 seconds after a goal (most the time, less than that).

Haven't been to enough games since the change in song to really be annoyed but it's a super bland, super lame song. TBH it's a little silly that the sport has gotten to a point where people need some song playing after their team scores a goal. I'm trying to think because it's been a while since I've been to a Rangers or Cowboys game but is there ever a song playing after a homerun or after a touchdown?

the rangers play the song from The Natural with every homerun.

As far as make more sense, 4th goal seems a little more structured than every 4 goals. (like taco goal was in the past i.e. scoring 3 goals gets you tacos not just scoring in the 3rd) Would be mega random to have it on the 2nd goal in one game then the 1 goal at another and then 4 goal at another. Still seems stupid.

Ahh yeah, you're right about the homerun song. Maybe I'm just a dullard but that seems stupid to me too.

Brandon Worley at DBD though it was important to RT this:

Quote:
Aaron Portzline ‏@Aportzline

Hearing RW Petr Straka, #CBJ 2nd-rd pick in 2010 who wasn't signed and went back into draft, has offers from 3-5 NHL clubs. Will sign soon.
He's 21 and dominating in the QMJHL ... which for me isn't that impressive. As a 17 year old, he was a rookie of the year and a consistent scorer. He struggled to produce the next 2 years after CLB drafted him which resulted in him not getting signed.

He started to breakout again in the playoffs last year, and now he's Top 10 in scoring and TSN has him at the top of the Q player rankings. I think it's always safe to be leery of overage production, but to be fair Matt Fraser's success as an overager is translating to pro hockey.

If Dallas is interested, you'd think they'd be an interesting option to Czech considering Vincour, Stransky, and Faksa are in the organization. With Jagr un-signed, he's probably not really a great selling point. Straka is on the 2nd best team in the Q so he's probably in for another long playoff run. Unless Jagr is re-signed, their paths wouldn't cross in Dallas.

He seems to be a Top 6 or bust prospect, and right after the 2010 draft some CLB fans were anointing him the best wing prospect in their system ... dreaming of the day he was playing Voracek. That didn't work out so well.

Really? I thought Filatov was always their diamond in the system.

Stars should sign him low risk / high reward situation.

In the article ... they were already mentioning the Filatov was potentially a lost cause that may not return to NA. Just before the 2010 draft he left for Russia mid-season. He did ultimately return to NA and played a season with Columbus and their AHL affiliate, but he was traded to Ottawa the following season.

Straka's agent is Allan Walsh ... same as Radek Faksa. Walsh is one of the top Czech/Slovak agents.

Potential huge news if Dallas shops Roy:

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie

FLA's Stephen Weiss is shut down for the rest of the year, will require surgery for an ongoing wrist problem.
Ribeiro is probably still top trade option unless Washinton re-signs him. I doubt they'd get a player as good as Eakin for him though.

After Roy's big game against St.Louis I can't imagine that the Stars will trade him.

I can see the Panthers will trade Goc who is very underrated to a contender.

Why would we trade Roy? I'm not comfortable with Eakin as our 2nd line center yet. I'm hoping we get Roy inked for 3 years, and he seems to like it in Big D too.

Reports from Heika seem to indicate his performance has little impact on a potential trade. Like Ryder, they seem to be set on not losing him for nothing. If he's not signed by the trade deadline, there would seem to be a legitimate chance he's moved.

Hopefully the sting of losing Richards for nothing influences the decision. I thought moving Ott was the right move, but losing the trade piece one year later for nothing would be unacceptable. I honestly still feel pretty confident he'll be signed since both sides seem interested, but there needs to be a contingency plan.

Practice has started!

Whitney update after practice, but if they run lines we could get an idea about Thursday's possibility.

The only thing I don't want to see is Roussel or Smith as the extra forward ... which means Reilly Smith will probably be the extra forward in practice.

Roman Hamrlik is on waivers.

The guy was extremely productive up until signing with Washington last year. He ate some healthy scratches starting last season as well before being a healthy scratch this season for all but 4 games.

He's a guy I use to really think could be a good fit in Dallas, but his career is probably over. That said, a free shot at him with an expiring contract could be a better gamble than some of the other options with years remaining on their deals.

My guess is he'll clear waivers, but then he could get traded soon after. I don't think someone will take him without giving up a contract. I wonder if WSH wants to get rid of him enough that they'd take Tristan King with another year on his deal?

He is probalby worth a shot but you cant bring that guy in after you've traded for Erik Cole. Hamrlik was one of the few who were willing to speak out about the union and Cole is extremely prounion and was a dick about the entire thing. I dont think it would be a good idea.
