I don't agree. What are you basing this on? He's always behind the news cycle for the Stars.

I specifically remember not 20 minutes before Dreger broke the Seguin trade, Sturm tweeted about the stars dropping "an anvil we won't see coming."

To be fair every NHL team is looking to add more elite talent to their team. If the Stars weren't looking then there would be problems. You always have to keep looking to see what and who is available or might be to jump on deals or be on top of a player when he suddenly becomes available.

I'm hoping it's acquiring Brunner.

Nill is definitely always looking to make this roster better and build toward his end goal. He has a plan. A ******* brilliant and well researched plan. The man knows how to build a roster in the (not so) new NHL.

Which I really think is finding a move to get Kulikov from Florida (or equivalent, but Kulikov is probably #1 on his shopping list right now). This is my baseless opinion, mind you.

His next move probably involves Daley, as he is the only one on the roster who doesn't have a long term internal replacement in the organization anymore, and has a long term contract for a relatively average D-man who is pushing 30.

Sometimes you have to drain the pool to get the crap out.

Something to factor in with the Olympics it could be a bigger advantage for the Stars after the Olympic break. Depending upon what happens with Finland's goalie situation the Stars probably won't have anyone else. I don't think France qualified did they?

I'd imagine Finland would go with some combination of Niemi, Rinne, Lehtonen, Backstrom. Hopefully Lehtonen doesn't play. Rask being the starter for Finland.

Provided no injuries.
Wild will have Parise and Suter on USA's team. Koivu on Finland. Backstrom is a option for Finland as one of the backup goalies.
Nashville Weber and Rinne
Chicago and St Louis each will have players playing key roles.
Winnipeg might have a few. Enstrom, Byfuglien, Wheeler, Bogosian and maybe Pavelec as potential options.
Colorado Varlamov maybe and Stastny.

So the Stars will should be in a very good position after the Olympic break.

We'll have to see how Benn reacts to adding the tournament to his season.

God please no. That rest would be amazing for him before the final push.

Rask is the no.1 now but you could throw anyone of the top6 in and you would do just fine..

Interesting stuff on Ritchie. Of course all players say the same stuff, but he seems extra confident in his abilities.

Sorry guys, that's not on them, that's on me. I like to try to be as thorough as possible with these, talk to their coaches, talk to other scouts, etc. Plus, I try to watch every player myself before I say anything about them even if it means requesting film from his European Junior club or what have you. I have a lot to compete with because of the terrific draft post that BigG44 does!

Plus, it's busy season at my "other" job, so that's slowed me down a little bit.

All my excuses and defenses out of the way, the article was turned in and is being edited. So I'd expect to see it soon. I'm working on finishing up scouting reports for the guys, I'm going to put them in before the weekend. I'll hopefully be able to add some other little tidbits as well when all my sources get back to me/get back from vacation (as nearly all of Sweden and Finland appears to be on vacation right now...)

You do great work, and the Stars certainly didn't do you any favors with their last two picks either.

Thanks, cannot wait to see these. Have always loved the work you do, definitely some of the better stuff on HF IMO.

There's a thread on the main boards asking whether Zubov is Hall of Fame worthy. I see a ton of people in there (non-Stars fans) saying they always thought Zubov was on par with Sydor and well behind Hatcher as the best defenseman on the team. I just don't remember it that way. Hatcher got a lot of talk due to his rough take no prisoners style but he was never the best defenseman on the Stars IMO.

It is my belief that Zubov was not only the best defenseman of Stars glory days but he was the best skater as well. I rate him as a better defenseman than Modano was a center, which is no shot at Modano in my mind. I don't think this is the popular belief but I imagine I'm not alone either.

What do you guys think? It would be nice to see some more Stars fans weigh in on this on the main board.

Zubov was unquestionably the best defenseman that has ever played for the Stars. Zubov was easily better than Sydor and Hatcher.
