Wild-Hawks

Just came back from the game, first time seeing Roche- pretty unimpressive (both ends), but Heid was rock solid. Brandner looks good, offensively he knows what to do and does take care of defensive responsibilities.

I thought Roche looked ok. Had some moments. Had some non-moments (whole team did).

Hannula had some nice shifts. Good spark on a couple of them.

I'm kinda glass-half-full on all these guys, though.

Overall, we didn't have a terrific game. 2 goals were pretty flukey, and Kuba's shot went off Brandner's leg for a nifty redirect. It could've gone the other way pretty easily, I think. There were some fun moments, though. Good pressure early on.. didn't often lead to good chances. Chicago played pretty tough, especially after the first. Power play should have been better. Some fun passing, guys tried to get a little too fancy, I think.

Did anybody else stand out?

Tell me some more about Heid, never seen him.

Thanks.

I liked Heid's positioning and I thought he skated well. When there was a rush down his side it usually stopped at the blueline. Looked ok skating the puck out of the zone and finished his checks. I'd love to see him suit up for the Wild sometime soon (maybe next season).

The line of VandenBussche, Strudwick and Baines were too physical for my liking, especially Vanden getting too close to (or bumping) Roloson.

Did Ruutu play for the Hawks, and if so, any impressions?

Ruutu didn't play, but Anton Babchuk did. He is big/physical and has a killer slap shot.

Yeah, he's got a heavy shot that needs some work at coming closer to the net. I thought Roche looked sub-par out there last night. I wasn't too impressed with the game as a whole either. It had some moments though. I was hoping Ruutu would play but he wasn't out there. (knee still bothering him?) Heid did look good for stretches. But nobody really stood out.

I thought Hanulla looked great. Hes a really good skater and he had some nice offensive chances.
