I'm guessing the only other way we would be 7th while winning out would be if we won out, the Islanders won out, and the Leafs went 1-1-1. That would give all three teams...WAIT NEVERMIND.

We'd beat out the Islanders in h2h?

I'm confused SCS.
The times SCS sees Ottawa get the 7 seed with 58 points, the Islander get the 6 seed, also with 58 points but with more ROW.

I was just in the Leafs' thread snooping around and one guy had this to say about Toronto being a 'dark horse':

"Of course we're a dark horse. People have been kissing MTL's and Ottawa's ***** all year . They aren't lucky but just purely talented while the Leafs "shouldn't" be in it because we're "lucky"."

Frankly, don't give a **** what Leafs fans think. They're in the playoffs -- good for them. Doesn't mean they won't go out early.

The Leafs usually are in a playoff spot 50 games in, they tank in the last 30 . Happy for them though, how crazy would we go after 9 seasons without a playoff appearance.

I just find it humourous that a leafs fan is saying that their team isn't getting enough attention.

No one is picking the Leafs to go to the SCF. In that sense, they are dark horses.

I say the Leafs beat the Habs if that's their first round opponent.

No because the definition of dark horse is: "a little-known person or thing that emerges to prominence, especially in a competition of some sort or a contestant that seems unlikely to succeed."

So you are assuming their success? If that's the case, you are submitting that Toronto is better than Ottawa. In fact, by definition, Toronto can never be a dark horse because they are already prominent as one of the most known franchises in the world.

Dark horse candidates then, which their fans have every right to believe.

Arguing that Toronto is better than Ottawa is not really that hard just looking at our record against them this year and the standings. We get some bodies back and things are different maybe.

That's like saying Buffalo is better than Pittsburgh because they've beaten them a majority of their matches.

There's one player in particular that may be back as soon as tomorrow that could have had a huge impact on that series.

Pittsburgh is also the much better overall team in the standings compared to Buffalo so not really. It's like Vinny Prospal pointing at the score board...we could debate minutia until the cows come home but at the end all the Leaf fans gotta do to counter is point at the standings. Doesn't mean much moving forward but as of now, yeah, they're better.

I guess so.

Well, the true better team will get further in the playoffs. Here's a positive- Let's remember that we used to clobber the leafs in the reg. season and they had us beat in every playoff series. Looks like the tables could be turning.

Can we please not let the sens season come down the game on the 28th?!

I don't think I could handle going into Boston w/ a must win sign on the dressing room.

Not an ideal situation but it would be a great test for the team. Theyve come up short in most big games and theyd get a big chance to change that...

Win in Washington and vs Philly would be nice too tho!!

I'd like to think after the season we just had, we're as much of a dark horse as the NYI are.

I dont think CBJ has a chance to get past the blackhawks, probably will be the most lopsided series, but who knows. Im not convinced with the Isles yet. IMO, if spezza and karlsson both come back healthy, we can make some noise. I think the rangers and St. Louis are the darkhorses though

People also wrote us off against the Rangers last year. Don't count them out.
