Yeah, I can see that.. but there aren't too many coaches out there that can balance offense and defense the way Q does, when he gets a team to play the right way. It is a mixed bag though, because you do need players that are willing and able to buy into both sides of the puck.
Q's had a lot of good two-way players at his disposal in Chicago. Toews, Hossa, Sharp, Bolland, Ladd, Madden, Kruger, Frolik, Saad, etc..
In Toronto, I don't think their forwards would have the same commitment. I could see Lupul.. but I couldn't see Kadri, Kessel, MacArthur, JVR, etc. really buying in from what I've seen.
no, they don't really have a lot of (any?) 2 way skill...but with Lupul, Kadri, Kessel, and JVR you've got the starting point of a strong top-6 where you don't have huge holes to fill..but the holes have to be filled in a specific way (forwards who have size and are good defensively).
the defence is cringe-worthy...which is ironic given Carlyle claims to be a defence-oriented coach
Ugh, want nothing to do with Torres in a playoff series again, but I'd also be happy to avoid all the best teams until round 3.
Forgot about him, but let's be honest, he is really the only guy on their team that would take runs. there are many Canuck guys who seem to love going after Keith, Toews, and Kane. Not to mention, we could play STL who has far more dirty players than San Jose.
