errr....so in other words, not a guy i want. Foligno's pestyness is what made him useful overall.
Yep. Paajarvi will be able to consistently chip 40 pts for the 3rd line, which is definitely valuable, but I think Wiercioch could do that from the blueline. Conacher has a nose for the net and a penchant for goal scoring that Paajarvi just doesn't posses. Paajarvi is a valuable player but he doesn't do much for the Sens.
I completely understand why Ottawa doesn't do this but to be honest it wouldn't exactly be the smartest move for the Oilers either. The biggest problem with the Oilers is that we don't have enough big forwards who can play a good 2-way game and MPS is actually one of the better 2-way forwards we have. He's a great defensive player and if his offence can come around he might just be too valuable to lose.
No from Ottawa. I like MPS, but I don't trade either of those guys for him straight up, let alone both. We got Conacher (and a 4th) for Bishop, so this would essentially be Bishop for MPS. Heck to tha no. Also, Honey Badger will be good here, and was in the Calder running most of the year. Wiercioch projects as a good mid pairing offensive Dman, which is > a 3rd liner. I'm certainly not trading either for MPS, and heck to tha no to both together. This also does nothing to address the Sens' needs, i.e. a young top 6 (ideally top 3) winger, especially since we may lose one more if Alfie hangs 'em up.
No way to the offer. We will use those players to pick up a scoring wingers that we need from a team in cap trouble. Edmonton's best players are not going anywhere, and not many of their other players could even begin to address what we need to pick up in the off season.
Having said this, Dizzy would be absolutely amazing on the Oil. But they really don't need more young, unproven talent.
Whoaaaa, where is the proof of that? Who knows what the future holds, but I can't see Paajarvi putting up 40 unless this 3rd line is stacked and they drag him there kicking and screaming.
30 pts regularly is a more realistic possibility if there is some talent there with him.
We're pretty much basing this proposal on potential seeing how each player has only played a very short amount of time in the NHL and Paajarvi definitely has potential to consistently put up 40 points in this league. He already put up 34 points and that was only his rookie season. So are you trying to tell us that MPS hit his peak as a 19 year old rookie
Edit: I'm not actually defending the proposal just defending Paajarvi's potential.
