Because players like Backstrom miss wide open nets?

He was a bit shaky at times in this game, but if you watched him before the injury, he was pretty much unstoppable. He's getting closer to rounding back to form.

I'm a bit sad looking at the posts that say we're a boring team... we got a flair for the dramatic!

Officiating was questionable at best in this game, but what else is new?

I don't mean disrespect. Caps are one of my favourite teams not named the Sens. If they do meet up, it should be fun.
Not trying to disrespect him but I feel the Sens just rely on him too much. I'm never too scared of a team that relies very heavily on their goalie because in a playoff series they usually have to be god like to give their team a shot.

Man you are messing with my head now. Like Kevin Spacey's character in Seven. I'm going to bed.

I think 9 is frustrated lately, with his offensive production having dropped off. I hope oates tells him to shape the F up.
His offensive production having dropped off to 12 points in his last 10 games?

Why do fans of the opposing team come in our GDTs? I don't get it, and it happens far too often.

look, i'm not going to let "facts," or "statistics," bog me down. if i say his production has dropped off, it has dropped off!

and please don't interrupt my venomous anti-9 rant.

truth is, tonite's game was meaningless. but jesus, if i see Ribs pull a stunt like that during the playoffs, then I will certainly have an aneurysm. that was like the time Josh what's his name threw the football at the Seahawks cover man and pushed us back OUT of field goal range. major knucklehead move.

i think Russian Machine summarizes it nicely:

"Mike Ribeiro failed to sabotage the game with a late-game, offensive-zone penalty for Ribeiroing. Then Steve Oleksy somehow got away with cold-cocking Jakob Silfverberg in the face during play, and yes, I am very happy I got to use the word “cold-cocking” this season. Oleksy didn’t get called for that punch– inconceivably. Then Ribeiro got another ******* penalty with one-minute left, because I guess if he can’t score, then he might as well play galactically stupid hockey. Sergei Gonchar scored the OTPPGWG."

Reffing was erratic, but i don't think it titlted game drastically for OTT. We took care of that ourselves.

Whatever. We're in the playoffs. I didn't think that would happen this year.
Oleksy shouldn't have got called for punching him in the face. I don't know exactly what was happening, but Silfverberg either was holding Oleksy's stick in his legs or grabbed it all I know is he was being cheap and was going to get a good scoring chance had Oleksy not punched him.

Our mods dont dish out infractions like the refs do to caps players is why we get trololed. Jk

Seriously if Ribiero looks at a ref hes in the box.

And Ottawa...you are boring. Terrible but effective. kudos to your coach however.

don't get me wrong, i LOVED the punch. i'm not even sure Oleksy did it totally on purpose. i think he was trying to push him in the chest. he wasn't really looking at him when he did it.

and unlike ribs, who threw about 11 punches and did no damage, Oleksy threw 1 and floored the guy.

still, intentionally or not, in order to retrieve a stick or not, in order to prevent a scoring chance or not, yes, i do believe it's technically against the rules to full-on punch somebody in the face.

i could be wrong. (it has happened before.)
