Florida isn't trading their pick for anything. Mackinnon is practically theirs. I wouldn't do that deal if I was Florida.

As for Tampa, I think it's good value, don't know how they think. I know Myers is worth less than a 7th round pick on this site so it's probably not enough for them.

Don't want Myers. He hasn't shown a damn thing since his rookie year. Pass.

There are about a million reasons trades like this won't happen, but you're wrong about Myers. He's been inconsistent as hell since his rookie year, but he's played a lot of games where he looked like a 1D. There were just mixed in with games where he looked awful.

Made the same offer a few days ago for the 3rd overall pick and didn't get any feedback from lightning fans. I think the value is probably close if you think Myers can be a first pairing guy (I can see why some people would have their doubts).
I don't think the other offer is enough to land the 2nd overall pick.

If Tampa isn't interested in Myers I'd like to Van get involved maybe something like:

To Tampa - Edler, a 2nd round pick (from Buffalo), a lower prospect from Buf.

To Buffalo - 3rd overall

To Vancouver - Myers (with Buffalo keeping 1 to 2 mil)

Van gets a reclamation project (of sorts) and cap room. Where Myers would not be expected to be a clear cut Number 1. But with Solid Depth takes the pressure off him and hopefully reforms his game.

Tampa gets a very good number 1 D. Edler is very good offensively and good defensively but has some warts to his game. Re-uniting him with Salo and he should bounce back and be even better as his numbers were somewhat good on the PP when Kes came back and having him out there with a guy like Stamkos should make his numbers even better.

Buffalo gets Drouin.

Edler is not the kind of defender we need, and he makes some boneheaded plays. He is a better Matt Carle, but we need a crease-clearer, and Edler ain't that. Moreover, 5 million is probably more than we can afford, and we would have a ton of money tied up on the back end with that.

It's going to be a long two months.

Edler is better than Myers. Unless we decide to go full rebuild, this doesn't really make sense for us.

2nd highest scoring offense in the league.

Stamkos, MSL, Lecavalier, Purcell, Killorn + a rookie in the top 6 next year (Connolly/Panik).

Im gonna go with no. Drouin is a bonus, who should hopefully replace MSL at some point. He will be cheap for 3+ years as well. Thats an acceptable form of adding offense.

But to be honest if SFY trades for a year of Vanek he should be shot.

Actually Edler is exactly what we need. Edler is a great defensive d man, with good offensive mind. I agree with his salary being hard to fit in due to the fact we would have a lot tied up in the back end but disagree with your assessment on Edler.

I don't watch them much, admittedly... every time I see them he seems to make some boneheaded, Brewer-esque play. He's obviously more talented, I've just never been impressed with him.

I like him, he would be a good fit. One could argue whether the #3 pick should be involved in acquiring him, but he will eat 25 minutes a game and do everything above average. He does make mistakes, but they aren't frequent

I would most definitely be interested in Myers. There is no way I would make the 3rd overall pick available for him though.

It's not a bad offer but I wouldn't do it. I really want to keep the pick.

Living in BC I see the Canucks a bit. He's brutal in the playoffs somewhat often, solid otherwise.

He's preferably a #2/3, but with a guy like Hedman he could play top pairing minutes.

Quite honestly as a sabres fan I don't blame you, I think Tampa is better off keeping the pick and drafting Drouin or Barkov and using other assets to address the blueline. If the 3rd overall pick isn't in play for Myers I don't think Regier considers moving him though so I don't think there is a deal to be made here.

Reasonable. But Tampa probably doesn't have anything else they could offer (within reason) that would make Buffalo consider moving Myers.

I'm a Sabres fan and this is just bad.

No way I trade the 2nd pick, especially for Myers.

so no, you're not even close.
