You're the person who brought up this stupid hypothetical to begin with, not me. I'm just saying you are delusional if you think Ovie wouldn't go for more than he is currently getting paid on the FA market.

no, part of the Fehr trade with Winnipeg; Genoway trade with Minnesota is the only one I am aware of still out there possibly with incomplete trade due to conditions

Well, he was pretty obviously referring to Schultz given the context, but...

You might be thinking of Taylor Stefishen from a trade with Nashville.

Maybe referring to Stefishen/NSH, in which case that's already done and they don't owe anything?

Don't forget that you are the one that assumed i was talking about Ovechkin.

I was actually talking about JFS.

Is it stupid to suggest he would or would not make more money in a hypothetical? I think its a valid question. Is there a team willing to sign him for more than 1/3 his current salary. Probably, but maybe not.

While I think there were some suggesting many months ago that George should use a buyout option on Ovi, those discussions dried up long ago and were put to rest for good with his latest Hart.

If you see a "stupid" hypothetical proposed on the internet, why take the bait?

Spot on as thought per Carrera. Unfortunate for Stevenson given the circumstances of his signing and bypassing SLU but hopefully he gets a chance elsewhere.

Heh, thanks for your assistance in pulling that list together. You'd hope these players would learn from watching what happens to others, but there are cases like that every year. Stevenson played well for ECHL Reading this year, but obviously no looks at the AHL level in 3 years, turning 24yo this summer.

In way OT news: Josh Godfrey heading to the second league in Germany per eliteprospects

He might help the PK if nothing else. Decent value. Have to think anyone interested in Schultz (if there really is anyone) would think about claiming him.

Also re: Nashville:

@JoshuaCooper: Poile said if he can't trade Halischuk or Blum they will not get qualifying offers

And re: Vinny4:

@JoshuaCooper: Poile said he talked with Lecavalier, but Lecavalier would prefer to be on the east coast

Vogel reports LeBlanc is arb eligible, too. I missed that in my review. Make sense given his age
as players 24 and older only need 1 year of pro experience to be arb eligible.

And when you don't see other teams but a few times a year you assume the good stuff is the norm and the mistakes the rarities. It is human nature.

But sure lets sign him and then wait 10-15 games for you to 'discover' all his warts and call McPhee a fool for signing him while conveniently forgetting you were advocating for signing him in the first place...
As usual....YOU ASSume where you know jack *****.

My watching habits in-season include at least a portion of every game most nights. Center Ice....in case you haven't heard of it....Yeah, I watch a ton of hockey.

McPhailure is a fool, signing VL4 or not....anything else?

IMO, Ribeiro was significantly better than Lecavalier this past season.
It tells you no more than those idiots suggesting Ovechkin be traded when he was struggling did.

At much less than his recent boat anchor contract, I suspect Bolts fans would be fine with VL4 as a 2C at a reasonable wage.

Katie's article said Alzner was the only one with arbitration rights. I think I'll go ahead and believe you and Vogel.

WSH puts Jeff Schultz on unconditional ($100) waivers for purposes of buyout. Ditto for NYI and Rick DiPietro.

Kris Russell, Greg Zanon & Matt Hunwick all on waivers as well.

A lot of cheapish LDs for GMGM to pick through. Always liked Russell in juniors but probably a little too close to Hillen as a player.

The only thing wrong with that is that Ovi didn't get traded or bought out by the organization VL4 did. So the fans can chirp all they want but when management makes the move, it means they want him gone for a reason. I would say that looking at it logically though they wanted that cap hit for young talent not a veteran on his way out the door.
