Florida does not have a St.Louis or a Stamkos, there are no excuses to lose this one. Back-to-back is not an excuse since they have been sitting for 3 straight days before.

The 3rd period in tampa 'sounded bad' on the car radio.
As if they decided to only play 2 periods?

gotta win. don't want to extend this skid any longer going in to the postseason.

we're not alone in that regard, but that doesn't make it good.

Goal differential of +2 so the same as the Islanders and better than Minnesota, just not timely distribution. Also 145 goals scored ties them for third in the league but inconsistent goaltending wasted a lot of good nights for the forwards.

Actually a very talented group to be benefitting from a top 5 pick. I pick Nurse or Zadorov for them, and a rebound next year.

Reallyyyy want to win this one. Dropping to 6th and facing Washington would suck.

I got a better feelin about this one I think we'll do it.

I'm not worried. I've decided let the chips fall where they may. If we face Washington, I think it would be a good series, and not as "DOOM. GLOOM." as you all are making it out to be. (because truthfully, I don't believe if we faced Montreal it would be all "easy as pie." as everyone is making it out to be.)

we need to get out there and establish our game early. Clearly, because the Leafs are WEIRD - they'll probably look more tired in the first period, as is their custom, and turn it on as the period goes on, but if we get to the Panthers first, and just establish our game that would be good.

I personally wouldn't have dressed Kostka AND O'Bryne last night, I would have played them in this game, and given Gardiner/Liles yesterday (as Tampa is fast, and Panthers, no so much, but, eh). I don;t know who is supposed to be in the lineup, but I know they will play well.

we need at LEAST a point tonight to keep above NYI, but I think basically
we need 3 (minimum) and they need 4 (maximum) to take over 5th.
or everyone else needs to lose. lol

Losing to Tampa or the Panthers is not out out of the question. NYR fighting desperately for a spot, found a way to lose against them. The Florida teams have nothing to lose, they can take chances teams with something on the line can't. Invariably your going to either get unpredictable games. I imagine, having clinched, also creeps into the mindset of Leaf players. I can see them losing this one as well. They want to win, but that fear of losing is not as pronounced in their game, its plausible they go 0-2 in Florida.

Hope they come out and take it early that's all.

Screw home ice right now...just win and keep 5th.

Islanders have been on a roll and they look like they will win out. We need to do the same to keep our spot.

This game is not going to be easy. If they don't show up... Get ready to face a red hot Washington team.

If we're going to slip, we better slip to 7th. I'll take the Bruins over facing the Caps.

Florida doesn't have any typical Leaf killers but they seem to like to score by committee against us as in all their lines seem to score at least once.

Goc, Upshall, Parros and Mike Weaver will all score.

I hate the Florida teams.

What happened to the time where a trip to Florida was an easy W ?

Whenever we played them during the Sundin era, it was as guaranteed a win can get.

Do they have any call ups looking for their first NHL goal? That guy will probably score.

Either that or the guy with the longest goalless drought.

Howden and Bjugstad - two of their best prospects haven't gotten their first NHL goals yet so there's at least two goals.

2 goals + random guy from around Toronto will score...so we're already at needing 4 goals to win before the game even starts.

No excuses to lose this game. This is an absolute must win. It might be a back to back but there's very little travel. Think Randy goes with Reimer again?

Crossing my fingers Gardiner is dressed. Still can't understand why they'd put in kostka instead. Give the guy a chance already, he's not any worse.
