I get the feeling there was an incredible amount of dissent between Karl and the front office. The guys upstairs wanted the youth in the lineup and were prepared to sacrifice wins for it. At Karl's age he wasn't going to oblige. I don't think either side was wrong - just really opposite goals honestly. It just became worse and worse of a match between the two.

Will be interesting to see who they pick. I really wanted Byron Scott. I think he could have really grown with these young guys and molded this team. Scott's had really good playoff success as well. If they can't get him, I hope they are calling the Van Gundys.

Rivers didn't want to come here because the Nuggets are a small market NBA city with no superstar. Until the NBA has league wide parity like Hockey or Football...good luck getting big names here.

I agree, this was a smart move. Can't believe the Lakers blew this guy off twice to get their guys. Shaw learned from the Zen master himself hopefully he can bring some organization to our willy nilly do whatever you feel like style organization of GK.

I think the Nuggets need a mixture of run and gun and some nice structure to become a more complete team.

Anyone have any homer picks for the Nuggets draft pick tomorrow night? I honestly haven't kept up with College BBall at all lately, but I have heard this draft is absolutely putrid, which means that 3 years from now we'll be saying "wow this might have been one of the best drafts ever"...haha.

I like Tim Hardaway and Glen Rice, only because I know their dads. But is there honestly going to be anyone worth their salt when we pick? I hope we take a big man or a shooter. Big men always seem to take 3-5 years to develop though, especially if they are Euro.

The Greek Freak Giannis Antetokounmpo should be around, but is very high risk. More likely though CJ Leslie out of NC State or Archie Goodwin out of Kentucky.

There is at least good news around the Nuggets pick. Checking out SI’s mock draft they have these guys all within the Nuggets range:

Pick 24 – Jeff Withey (7-1 Center)
Pick 25 – Rudy Gobert (7-2 Center)
Pick 26 – Ricky Ledo (6-6 shooter)
Pick 27 – Glen Rice Jr. (6-6 shooter) – Nuggets Pick
Pick 28 – Tony Snell (6-7 shooter)
Pick 29 – Mike Muscala (7-0 Center)
Pick 30 – Allen Crabbe (6-6 shooter)

Every single one of these SG’s listed are pure shooters that need to build more all-around games. Unless the Nuggets go crazy off the board here, they’re going to take a center or a pure shooter. I’d say those are the two biggest need areas - can't go wrong.

I'm from Cincinnati originally and thus a Barry Larkin fan. I'd love to see his kid Shane Larkin fall to the Nuggets, but he's projected to go about 10 picks higher.

We would have had to give up the house to move up that far. I'll be content if the rookie GM just stays put and doesn't try to make his mark with a horrible trade just so he can say he did something.

Yeah he was wildly inconsistent with the Cubs as well. That's the whole reason they got rid of him. When he's cold he's AA ball cold. When he's hot he looks like he could play everyday. It's always feast or famine with him, and it's usually for extended periods of time.

Yep. He's got a ton of talent, he just manages to go into trainwreck mode every so often.

so i don't really follow basketball but am watching the draft, assuming that is the commissioner making the picks seems to make the draft even more anti climatic, i prefer the nhl one having legends such as sakic and representatives of the team come up to make the pick.

Denver should pick Franklin. Going to be a solid role player in the NBA.

I thought for sure we would take Crabbe. I'm honestly pretty stunned. Guy looks solid but this pick almost signals a mini rebuild. They must have negotiations going well with Iggy. If they lose him and passed on Crabbe they will regret this pick.

I'm still trying to figure this out - the Post says we got rid of Koufas, and then we selected Erick Green. But then it makes no mention of the French guy (lets just call him "wings") and it goes on about how they decided between Koufas and Mozgov.

So what the hell is the deal? I don't doubt that Wings was traded, but why isn't he mentioned at all in the Denver Post stories?
