I think Plek has a reputation (deserved but exaggerated) of being a FO cheat, so refs tend to be harsh on him.

As I live in Ontario I remember all the great crises in leafs nation

1) Burke firing
2) Leafs slump
3) related to 2 - going nuts about Gardiner being stuck in the AHL
Yea, really.

Carlyle simply doesn't trust him and I don't blame him. In the limited games he got this season he had one good game for every three games played. Stupid decisions with the puck, turnovers, risky plays, etc. That kind of stuff you can't afford in the playoffs. He might be our best PMD, but he doesn't deserve to play over Liles.

Phaneuf-Gunnarson
Fraser-Franson

Are pretty much set in stone. Liles-? is the question IMO. It's either Kostka or O'Byrne.

The #freejakegardiner campaign was fun. At that point, both Kostka and Holzer in their first extended look in the NHL, after playing well to that point, started to slump. Carlyle said he wanted Gardiner up only when he'll be too good for the AHL. Fans couldn't get him up soon enough. They called him up but he hasn't impressed, on the contrary.

Hopefully he comes to the camp more determined than ever and earns a spot. He's not playing this year, barring injuries.

so will Price be going to the World Championships after round 1?

Just kidding guys. It's pretty awesome that our first trip back after 9 LONG ASS years will be against our biggest rival. Hopefully the rivalry rises back up to where it once was.

Leafs are just too confident right now. Time to shut them up.

The face offs at center ice and in the dots are different. Center ice has no hash marks so you can use any foot positioning, ex: pleks often lines up sort of sideways. In the dots it's all about foot positioning (hash marks) and the sticks, correct me if I'm wrong but away teams have to put their sticks on the ice first.

It would be awesome if the Habs got to the ECF again AND dispached Leafs on their way there, but what moment in his career makes people think that Budaj can be Halak v. 2.0. The 7 games he won this year?

It's the playoffs.
There have been a few players who shine in the post season.

Anything is possible. Colby Armstrong might be our leading scorer. (Might be more of a problem though)

You might want to check the standings before talking like it's a certainty.

And Ottawa might have something to say about who is your biggest rival.

Habs need to come out and play like they did in the 3rd game against the leafs, and shut their fans up. Reading their board it seems like they're facing an AHL team whenever they play us. We have home ice for a reason, let's show it tonight.

5-1 Habs

Look at you a sensible leaf fan.

Most Leaf fans don't realize that until this year we haven't considered the leafs a real rival. Boston was a rival.

Just because the Leafs are competitive now doesn't mean leaf fans can run around with Montreal Canadiens hate.

Because the Leafs haven't earned the rivalry back yet. This regular season was a start....

But sorry Leaf fans.... You have alot of work to do still before you are worthy of my hate again.

They are class acts, thumbs up to Jets fans for supporting their teams.

Tarana fans have been cheering for non-playoff teams for a decade. Thats not being class acts anymore. More like insanity.

I don't know. If they do indeed face Toronto, the last thing Price remembers against them is being lit up and getting the yank. If he stinks it up tonight again, same result. If he plays over his head the entire game and the Habs win it, his confidence will be high heading into the post-season.
His confidence isn't going to get much higher than it is now. He was incredible the other night.

Leafs are the joke of the NHL for almost 10 years, and yet their fans still find a way to be the most arrogant. Bunch of losers...every single one of em. Go Habs go.

Why Budaj in net though ? Price has finally got out of this slump, played well vs Tampa and was superb vs Jets.

I woulda went with him with his confidence high... now he's getting pulled and must think that his poor performances vs the Leafs are the reason why, cant see how it puts him into a good mood for the Playoffs vs TO.

Much harder to beat Price on a good day and IIRC (and I do cuz I was there), when we played on Feb27, Price was very solid, only allowing an own goal by Moen and one where (again, and I trulllly hope they fix this cuz it is a set play by the leafs) Bozak was left soooo wide open.

Boods might pull it off, but despite whatever has happened in the past, Price on his game can steal this one and I DO want 2nd.

Not that I think this will actually happen due to coaching decisions, but I can see the fans and media having some questions about who to start if Booods puts up a 40 save SO. They'd start Price in the playoffs and even if we don't play the leafs, don't know what that does for Price's confidence (now that it looks to be back) or in terms of whether we actually SHOULD start Budaj. Anyway, best thing would be to start Carey and let him redeem himself to shut leaf fans up AND build confidence further.
Or he gets lit up again and we're forced to go with Budaj in the playoffs.

Starting Budaj is the right decision.

I don't mind Budaj in net. Already have home ice for the first round and Price is going to be playing all of our playoff games (barring injuries/disaster), so extra rest is good. This game just isn't as significant as people make it out to be.
