Ranger Prospect Poll - #5

#1 Prospect - Hendrik Lundqvist - Currently playing in the WC

#2 Prospect- Fedor Tyutin

#3 Prospect - Al Montoya - Was extremely close, won by 3 votes in the tie breaker with Jessiman, where will he end up next season?? College or AHL?

#4 Prospect - Hugh Jessiman - Well the injury halted his development and Ranger fans took notice. Lets hope for a strong season next year to keep his development on track.
---------
Ive added Prucha and Graham this round, would appreciate if more people would post who they want added.

Tuff pick for #5, im drawn between Immonen and Korpikoski, but im going to go with Immonen since hes more NHL ready. (BTW if the 1st and 2nd place players are seperated by 3 or less votes im going to hold a tie-breaker)

Voted for Korpikoski. Add Baranka.

Immonen will have to make quite a few adjustments to succeed in North America so I'm reluctant to rate him too highly. The Euro leagues and NA leagues are very different and Jarkko's style of play strikes me as which may not translate all that well.

Of course I'm backin' my boy Immonen. He plays very north american style of hockey accoridng to our head coach Matti Alatalo. Korpikoski on the other hand is currently in a very important part of his career. In junior level he has been an offensive threat. Next season he has to be on the second line or he just might fall to be a grinder. TPS looks the be quite good team on paper so he has to do well to fit in the first two lines.

Picked Immonen. I think the concerns about his game "translating" to the North American style of play are overblown. He has the potential to fit in and make a real contribution right now. Not unlike a player coming out of college....

I might have picked Kondratiev instead, but the recent incident has me concerned.

I guess there's the difference right there. I don't see Immonen making an immediate impact next year whatsoever. Not with the Rangers anyway.

I agree that he doesn't make an impact with the Rangers. Just because I think he doesn't want to move over the "pond" just to play AHL hockey. (I don't think the NHL season starts as planned.)

So you're saying that if the NHL were to start on schedule, Jarkko would refuse to sign a two-way contract?

Prucha is on there already.

And I just want to know why Korpikoski who had a disappointing season has more votes than Dawes who had an exceptional season?

because Dawes is 5'8" and an average skater?

How did Graham get on the list ahead of Callahan and Petruzalek?

Because Korpikoski was playing in a men's league and I don't think was expected to contribute immediately anyway. Dawes, while talented, has been playing against competition his age and younger and IMO hasn't made tremendous strides (at least statistically) since his draft year.

For long term potential I really think you have to go with Korpikoski here, over both Dawes and Immonen.

An argument can be made for Callahan, but I think I would put Graham ahead of Petruzalek (yes I've seen both).

Because we're rating the best prospects and that takes a bit more than just looking at each player's latest point totals.

Petruzalek? He was picked in the 9th round for a reason. Dawes was in a similar situation yeah. But Dawes not only made team CANADA. But he was the star on it. Petruzalek is going to have to do the same on the big stage before you reward him for simply racking up points in a league where small people can survive.

Why did Graham get drafted 7 rounds ahead of Petruzalek?

No, I am not saying that. If the NHL were to start on schedule, Jarkko will most likely signs a contract with the Rangers, one-way or two-way. Depending what the Rangers offer him. He just wants to at least have a chance to play in the NHL in his first season. He doesn't want to sign a contract if he doesn't even have the chance to convince the staff from the Rangers that he is good enough for the big league. That is what I meant.
