The 2013-2014 Crosby Over Under Thread

Because it's still offseason wanted to speculate on the great Crosby for 2013-2014 season.

Note: ****

I do realize team success is the ultimate goal, and that Sid doesn't play for individual numbers, with that being said here are some over unders to consider

Over Under for games played 70.
I'll go with over, evenutally he has to have a healthy season so why not this one.

Over Under for points 110.
If he plays over 70 games he should get over that mark, would love to see a 120-130point season with a Healthy Sid.

Over Under goals 50
I'm thinking in a healthy season 54 goals this years

Over Under Faceoff % 53%
I'll go with under and think he'll get 51%

Over Under penalty minutes 20
I'll go with the over, not sure why but think he's going to be fired up this year and playing with a ton of emotion, which will lead to more penalty minutes imo.

Over Under assists 75

I'll go with under, my thought is he will score more goals this year and assists will be down.

So what do you guys think as far as Sids season goes?

I'm very anxious to see a healthy Sid this year and cant wait to see some hockey here pretty soon.

Well Under. Malkin might get 75 though if he plays with Bennett and Neal the whole season.

Over Under for games played 70.
Over. The bad luck has to end eventually.

Over Under for points 110.
Over. If he's healthy all year, and continues the level of play he's had over the past three years, there's absolutely no reason to think he won't hit around 120

Over Under goals 50
Depends.

If his line is KCD: Under
If Bennett is on his line: Over

Over Under Faceoff % 53%

Under, but barely.

Over Under penalty minutes 20
Over. I'm certainly not expecting him to take less than 10 penalties the entire season.

Over Under assists 75
Also depends on his line

KCD: Over
W/Bennett: Under

My thought is that as long as he is flanked by two wingers that struggle creating on his own, he will remain more focused on playmaking. But if there was another creative winger on his line, there would be less pressure on him to be the only one making plays and he'd balance his numbers a bit.

Over. His luck has to change some time, no?

Over Under for points 110.
Over. Our powerplay is just too good with James Neal on it. It's been 20% since Neal has arrived here. Crosby will be racking up assists like crazy on it.

Over Under goals 50
Under. I could see him getting red hot and taking a run at 60 goals, but ever since coming back from his concussions he seems to have reverted back to primarily a playmaker again. If he re-gains that goal scoring confidence he had during the 50 goal season and the one right after though there is nothing stopping him from 50+.

Over Under Faceoff % 53%
Barely Over

Over Under penalty minutes 20
Over

Over Under assists 75
Over. 80+, possibly 90+ depending on how healthy our team is. He was over an assist per game this year, I see no reason why he won't be around or over that in an 82 game season. He's that good.

Well under 70 games played. Gets sick from bad borscht on the second night in Sochi and misses the rest of the season and playoffs. Someone's got to try to break the jinx that 7/7 previous posters are trying to create.

Reporter: Do you have a goal for this season? you've been so good at them in the past.
Crosby: Yeah, i want to wreck this league with my cheat codes. I'm going to break 130 points!
Malkin: I am score.

do folks honestly think sid will have a complete/almost complete season, or do you just hope he will?

I think it's pretty silly to predict an injury when Sid will be going into the season 100% healthy. He's had his share of **** luck.

Coming off an embarrassing playoff exit and in an Olympic year, I'll bet Sid has his best season yet.

If you think Brooks Orpik slapping a puck at his face has anything to do with Sid's ability to stay healthy this year, I don't know what to tell you.

there is no reason to expect an injury. It is just as likely to happen as last year. That was about as fluky as injuries get. Prior injuries or being "injury prone" had absolutely nothing to do with Sid missing time last season.

Crosby will have the best season of his career.

There has been no reason to think otherwise, barring one season, in his entire career.

If Crosby plays a full season or close to it and only scores 110 points (or in that neighborhood) it will be a pretty big disappointment.

Games played: over
110 points: over (see above)
50 goals: close but I'll say under
53% faceoff: over
20 PIM: way over
75 assists: over

Not to devolve into the "is Sid injury prone or not" argument, but Sid's missed significant playing time in 4 of his 8 seasons, and hasn't played a full season since 09-10. So I think there is a reason to at least not be surprised by an injury, if not expect one. And given that the Hockey Gods don't like hockey players taking short cuts, the DMV incident may have tipped the scale in favor of a meaningful injury.

Just keeping my fingers crossed.
