Bryan Little appreciation thread

I don't understand why this guy gets so little appreciation. He did score 24 goals last year, but only potted 7 this year. Looking at his stats he produced at a career high .66 points/gm. He was also +8 on a -16 team. 4 PIM, and a very low 8.3 sh%. He's 30th in the league for center points according to NHL.com, there's some pretty big names behind him. His FO% was also 51.2%.

What's not to love? He's going to get paid this off season. I also think he'll take another step up next year.

I like Bryan Little. He's a smart player. Good defensively, good playmaker and gel's perfectly with Ladd and Wheeler.

I think if he went back to playing wing with a good center, he could put up more goals.. like he did in his rookie year.

Count me in as a fan. Big part of the team going forward IMO. His versatility is a huge plus.

Always been a Little fan. One of only 2 names I would consider putting onto my jersey. I've always highly appreciated players who can fill in any role when asked. Jets #1 jack of all trades IMO.

I just can't recollect him making a mistake. He's underrated for sure.

Choosing to pass back to Buff(in his feet at that) in a 3 on 2 on the pk in one of the last two games. Forgot which one. Other then that, can't recall one down the stretch. Does so many little things that you need to do to be successful and deserves a ton of credit.

I like Little. He's a consistent 20-25 g/25-30 a/50+ pt guy. Now that's not 1st line production, imo, but he's smart, determined and plays well with Ladd and Wheeler. He stays.

If the Jets upgrade with two productive players (to play with Kane), then they would have two quality lines for a Top 6. Especially if they can find a productive center.

I think Atlanta management believed it would be Burmi. I think Jets management hopes it will be Scheifele. I think Jets management has a better chance to be correct.

Not much to not like about Little. It will be interesting to see what length we sign him in the off season. Would love to see us lock him up for 5 years. What can we expect for money? 19 mil 5 years?

He's solid, but not a first line center. He's too small. He gets muscled offensively; it limits him immensely.

I really like Bryan Little I think Chevy will go long term with him and give him around the $23-25m over 6 years.

The consensus from fans and media alike is that the number one need for next year is at the very least a talented winger- if not a new centre as well- to play with Kane.
It is pretty well assumed Chevy will acquire at least one player via trade or Free agency that fits the bill.
I just wonder: if he cannot somehow manage to succeed in filling this need with a recognizable, legit top 6 player, just how upset will fans be with him?

Little is easily one of the most underrated players on this team. Constantly overlooked because of his stellar linemates, but I really think Little is the glue on that line.

#NHLJets facts:

Per 60 minutes of 5v5 TOI, this season Little was on the same pace as Wheeler was last season for points...

Last season it went Kane (2.42), Wellwood (2.15) , Wheeler (2.05), and Ladd (1.77)
This season it went Ladd (3.09!), Wheeler (2.60), Little (2.05), and Kane (1.97)

Those 4 poor dudes need some serious help for next year. Kane especially is on an island all on his own. Be nice to pick up a complementary piece, and perhaps have Scheifele step up next year.

Really like Little - such a we'll rounded and generally under-rated player.

Yes. We need serious help on the 2nd line for Kane, even if it's just a garbageman. Little is pretty understated everywhere, but is a key cog in LLW's production.

Huge fan.

Predict (and hope he is re-signed without a hassle from either side) for a five year contract this summer for ~$3,750,000 a season.

He's a guy that provides, by his character and work ethic on a daily basis, the intangibles necessary to produce positive chemistry and the environment for the club and other players to succeed.

I think the predictions for his next contract are low. Very low. I'm thinking closer to $32 million over 6 years.

Go look at what the players around him in the points standings make. Then consider he took 4 PIMs, was good on faceoffs, plays a great defensive game, and was a plus on a minus team. I would say 4.5 at the minimum. 5-6 years. Bozak isn't as good as Little, and he wants 5.

If he hits Free Agency, but he's RFA. I'd start at 4 and maybe end at five at the end if his contract.

Usually RFAs not coming off an ELC get paid the same as UFAs

I don't think he's worth that much. He disappears at different times during the season(coincidentally when Ladd and Wheeler aren't scoring). He's overvalued because of the line he plays on. I'd love to keep him on the team but I think he's also worth trading if someone gives us the proper proposal...

Bump. Just thought the guy needs some love. He's my vote for Jetty award.

Tough minute centremen have always been the position that I respect and envy the most. They are what builds championship teams.

Due to Jets current situations, my analytical research leans heavily on goaltending, and because of it Little really gets under analyzed and appreciated.

Anyways, here are 27 team's tough minute centres:

*Koivu, Toews, and Seguin (who I forgot to add) are getting easy OZS due to their team having d-zone faceoff specialists... so their mins aren't really "that tough".

+1.
Little spends a lot of time in my "favorite player" slot.

He doesn't get discussed much 'round these here parts 'cuz he's low controversy - solid and consistent. We like to talk about crappy or streaky players (and rookies).
