Lame hugfest... draw.

Also, looked more like he was bracing himself with his forearm than elbowing, but maybe I'm wrong.

As a huge Carkner fan, this was a very disappointing fight.

Zzzz heavyweight fights are too boring now. No one wants to get hit by these guys that are 230+lbs because they know their "career" will 5 years shorter.

As a Sabres fan I like John Scott as a plug and locker room guy but he's absolutely terrible from the technical side of fighting. He doesn't know how to get guys off balance, he doesn't land any good body shots to get a reach advantage and he's too out of shape to throw anything later in a fight. He may be as big as Boogard was but he's worlds apart technically.

If I were a goon in today's NHL, I'd eat a clove of garlic and a tuna sandwich before every game. Then breathe right in a guy's face if he tried to fight like that.

From the few Scott fights I have seen(5-6) seems like he always tries to get his opponent on the boards then just wails into them until they have had enough.

It's been said before but he's not mean enough to be a great enforcer. I don't think I have ever actually seen him angry in a fight. He doesn't have the killer instinct.

Is Scott really that terrible ? He never let go of Carkner once. Carkner at least tried to get some separation.

He usually doesn't hug like that. Both of these guys were at the end of their shifts once the fight started. It's obvious to me they were both tired before even dropping the mitts.

Rob Ray looks disgusted at how much fighting has changed in the NHL. All defense and wrestling now. Rarely do you see a good toe-to-toe scrap anymore. It used to happen on a nightly basis..

Well said. There are too many technical fighters in today's game.

Crombeen , Boll , Brown , Clune , Prust and Konopka are all in the top 10 for fighting majors this season...

I missed where any of them were fighting in front of Rob Ray. Heavyweight fights have been incredibly boring for years now because no one wants to get hit by some freak who is 6'4"+ and weighs 240+ lbs and lose out on making $1Million a year.

One of the last really big guys who would go toe to toe every fight was Andrew Peters in his first few seasons. He ended up paying when Matt Johnson tagged him and that was it for Peters. He never fought like that again.

This is why the "smaller" guys are much more exciting fighters.

Is he also disgusted that there's a rule in place to prevent cheating in fights the way he did?

Agreed with the second part, but the reason he uses the boards so much is to deal with the fact that everyone he fights goes straight for his punching shoulder and tries to keep him at arm's length.
