Jon Blum

The Nashville blueline is getting awfully crowded for next year, at it looks like Poile plans on moving a defenseman. Blum seems like the odd man out of the bunch, though I like him a lot, and I think he will be traded.

Who is interested? Since we have no picks between #4 and #64, the most likely scenario is Blum for a late 1st or early 2nd IMO. A forward prospect (think Brett Connolly) is also a possibility.

(Hal Gill is also available, as a side note.)

Canucks need another right-handed defenseman. Predators are sorely in need of top-6 forwards. Not sure Canucks have anything available up front that Nashville would be interested in.

Seeing as Nashville needs scoring up front and has the money to spend, would Grabovski interest you? At this point, both players could probably use the change of scenery, however Grabs has also shown he is an NHL player, whereas Blum hasn't, and might never. The only caveat is you would likely have to use him as a winger, which seems to be how he plays the center position anyway. He could also wake Kostistyn up. Wouldn't pay a first for either guy regardless, but the risk reward is greater for Grabs than Blum. Not to mention, even when he doesn't score he brings it with 100% effort and you can't hurt him. Maybe his feelings, but not his body. Just a thought. Could also keep 1m of his salary

If he can play winger, I like the idea. We have enough centers like him (Legwand Fisher in particular) and are generally overly deep at the position, though we lack a top guy. Seems like a nice fit if he'll be a winger. I like it, who knows if other Preds fans agree. I'd do Blum for him.

He can play wing although center is his natural position.

As an aside, I finally made an offer that didn't involve death threats coming my way

His value to me is the fact he's a RH shot. We have none with any experience. I'd certainly offer a 2nd no problem, but it would be around the 50sh spot. Could also make an offer involving a prospect and pick. You seem to need wingers, but to be honest, I like your winger prospects more than mine. I count 3 guys before we get to Leivo on my side, and he's likely equal to Leipsic anyway, just bigger, unless we're talking bottom 6 guys, then we have Ross, Ryan, and Biggs. You have enough dmen and better goaltending and center prospects overall, although I like Colbourne (lately), but Watson more. Seems more like nothing really happening there except stocking up I guess.

Realistically, what could the Flyers give to get him?

1st deal: Very possible, as long as Trotz and Hemsky can play nice.

2nd deal: Wilson won't be traded. Not a bad offer, but I doubt Poile takes it.

Damn. Been wanting Wilson for so long, Oilers fans used to say no. Now that he's broken out theres no chance.

However, Blum for Hemmer would work pretty well.

Schultz, Petry, Smid & Blum isn't too bad of a top-4

that and his contract starting next year is not what the preds are looking for. Also he is 32 and not getting any younger.

I'd most definitely trade the Flyers 2nd rounder for Blum. Like in a heart beat.

41st OV.

I agree. 41st for Blum I think would be an easy decision for the Flyers.

As a Leafs fan, Blum intrigues me for his potential and his right handed shot (right?).

What do you think would Nashville want from Toronto? 2nd this year and a prospect?
