George Jones DEAD at 81

George Jones ... the country music megastar whose heartfelt vocals and close-to-home lyrics defined the genre for generations ... died today. He was 81.

Jones was hospitalized in Nashville on April 18 for a fever and irregular blood pressure, though the cause of death was not immediately released.

he is one of the guys who if you know who he is you have to ask "HOw the heck did he live so song"

one of the original country hell raisers who looked and somewhat acted normal

RIP Jones. Such a powerful voice and for my money the best singer of all time. The country artists of today can only dream of being as good as George Jones.

Not a fan of country music at all, but because of the state of country music in the past 10-15 years I certainly miss knowing folks such as George Jones were out there doing their thing. Got to see him live when I was a kid (parents brought me along to an event he played), though, and it's always nice to say you've seen a legend.

Great talent, but like the rest of us, he had his flaws, a longstanding alcoholic, beating up his wife.

But yeah, RIP.

Wow, sad to hear. My dad was a huge George Jones fan and I grew up listening to him. Outstanding voice and a great singer.

Jones was one of the best, its sad to see the absolute trash country music has turned in to, I wont even listen to that crap anymore.

RIP George Jones.

Possum, No-Show, riding his lawn mower to bars because his wife took the car keys so he wouldn't drive.

RIP
