to me that's irrelevant, only relevant is where they were born. Halilovic is born in Croatia and he is "real" Croat

Thought I better introduce myself in the thread I 'm gonna post the most, and also express my opinion.

My RL name is Marko. I obviously live in a small part of our small country Croatia called Zagorje.I 'm a KHL Medvesčak diehard, for a short time, because hockey generally wasn 't televised and advertised, popular as it is now. Frankly, I wasn 't really fon of YEBEL league (translation: ****BEL) because of the refs and the level of hockey.

Now that we 're in the KHL, we 're finally getting an opportunity to play with Europe 's best in a truly proffessional and transparent league, which is second to only NHL.

I am very excited for this season, I think we will see if our players are "Medeki" or "Medvjedi". Hoping they 're the latter, and our FO sure seems to like big strong players.

I would love to talk AND LEARN a bit more about the draft.
I think that 's the way to build your team.
Hope to see Medveščak using those protection picks like mad soon.

Cheers,

Original

Russian and Croatian are closer than I expected

As for Medvescak, I hope they will do at least like Slovan last season. Looking forward to seeing Medvescak vs Traktor match.

All Slavic languages are quite similar, if you listen carefully you can understand a lot.

I know That's why it's not a big problem for me to read about Slovan transfers on their original website.

When I watched the draft, I actually understood a lot od things.
I never actually learned Russian.
Hope I 'll actually learn it in the future as I deem myself a fluent Croatian and English speaker, and I understand some German.

I look forward to all of the matches, as KHL is the creme of European hockey. I hope Medveščak will be competitive, that 's all.

Still, we don 't even know how our roster will look like.
Besides Glumac, Perkovich, Jessiman, Martinovič and Dekanich there 's nobody currently on the roster. I hope all of our draftees make the team, but I doubt we 'll see anyone of them on the roster.

Virtanen would be AWESOME in Medveščak.

Cheers,

I think Rendulic first should prove himself as top player, if not in whole SM-Liiga, at least in HPK, and then come to Medvescak.
13/14, I read it somewhere

That were only rumors. He had 1+1 with HPK and he extended with them.

Would love to know more about other prospects we drafted.
Hopefully someone with more knowledge on this topic (Czech and Slovak Medveščak fans) comes to the rescue.

I 'm intrigued by Karabaček and Smejhal.
Would have loved to see us drafting Vrana, as Virtanen is a huge longshot to even play a second in some of the developmental leagues, let alone in Medveščak.

Would too like to know more about Nino Ondris and Stanislav Škorvanek.

About Borna Rendulić, I don 't think he actually brings some significant quality or value to our team ATM. Medveščak should let him get a few more years of experience in Finland, where he will certainly play a bigger role than he will play for Medveščak in the KHL.

Cheers,

Hm... You already "signed" 10 people. Some of them are still playing in the AHL and NHL. Well, who are this players? Dustin Jeffrey?

Let's hope so. He's a great player..

Like we said before, Medveščak used to do this in EBEL as well. They would sign entire team but do PR releases 1 by 1 for marketing purposes.

I think we are much more interested in the team 's dealings this way, much more than if we got the whole roster on the first day of FA.

At least that 's how this works for me.
We are solving the puzzle that our Medveščak is.

"Medo" actually gives us some info, announces that another "Medvjed" will arrive in the "Brlog". Then we browse through EliteProspects.
The same day we actually get to know our new "Medvjed".

I am totally OK with that.

So far we have the draftees, Martinovič, Perkovich, Jessiman, Glumac, Dekanich on our roster.

I hope that we really did sign Jeffrey.
But I hope he isn 't the biggest signing we make.

I think our next signing will adress our blueline in some kind of a way.

Cheers,

Original

I do hope we sign Jeffrey and I am fine with him being our biggest signing. 25 yrs old player with 0.85 PPG in AHL. For team like ours, that will fight to stay in PO race through the season he would, and some other "Jeffrey's", BIG signing.

Murovich can be 4th line center at the best. Koren and Zanoski won't play KHL. Gazdic is 4th line material. P.Oreskovic didn't want to come to play EBEL, hopefully they will take revenge on him and not offer a contract to him. V.Oreskovic is in retirement now, but if he could play NHL after one year of absence, then he probably could play 3rd/4th line role in KHL as well.

Rechlichz looks like Miratsy/Jablonski clone , while Kostovic will return to Schwiz.

p.s. Which Fraser ?

See that there's some talk of Dustin Jeffrey, and as a Pens fan, thought I'd copy/paste something I wrote about him the other day:

Jeffrey was having a breakthrough season in 2010-11 (the year where Geno & Sid both missed the 2nd half of the season and Jeffrey was able to get regular playing time) until he tore his ACL at the end of the season. Last season, 2011-12, was a lost season for him as missed time dealing with complications stemming from the injury and in general looked like a guy coming off a major knee injury.

Jeffrey's skating has always been his bugaboo and and it wasn't until this season that he started to rebound a bit. Due to the team's depth, he's gone long stretches of not playing, though one of the last games he played significant minutes, against Ottawa near the end of the season, he played a strong all-around game. Jeffrey is a smart player that was very effective killing penalties and creating chances in the AHL but never really got that much of opportunity to do so with the big team. I could definitely see him slotting in as a NHL 3C in a scenario where a team took a liking to him and gave him an extended audition. I think he could provide league-average offense for a 3C while also helping out on the PK, all on the cheap. He's not a physical player by any means, but he's not afraid to go toward the front of net/dirty areas.

Not to burst anybody's balloon, but Jeffrey will only be a RFA this off-season, not an UFA, which would complicate him signing with a KHL team if he wanted to explore that route. He wouldn't be a UFA until the following off-season.

I hope not. I have a game worn of his and might grab some from more for my Croatian friends if he signs up there.

If you watched 1/4 series between RBS and Medvescak, there was interview with him and he said that he is going to play for Croatia. Kid look promising, playing with four years older players against czech extraleague teams.
