After I watched game against Torpedo, I was 100% that he will stay. Alongside Popovic, Švarny was our best D, especially in our own zone.

Much less suprised with Lundberg leaving...

Yeah! I am also surprised with Svarny leaving but not much with Lundberg.

Nikitas Kolesnikovs on try-out with Medvescak.

I assume he is not KHL material, otherwise DR would give him a shot !?

Nikita Kolesnikovs (Ņikita Koļesņikovs). No ''s'' at the end of his last name, lets not get silly Well, he is big and lumpy D with some small ice potential. But he really needs to become more agile in his own zone to stick around with the best.

Considering he's 1992 born, he might be in the team just to give it an underager (in KHL terms), to be able to play with full 4 lines. Like Gal Koren and Bjorkstrand. None of the three are particularly impressive to make KHL on their own merits (though seems Bjorkstrand had a nice game a few days back) but since Medvescak's youth is at the level it is, he could possibly make it... Kolesnikovs was in Dinamo Riga's camp but seems they give a bigger preferance to Edgars Siksna (93) and he is a better Latvian defenceman of the two. But Kolesnikovs would probably be second in the rankings of 92-94 born. Hard to say much about him not seeing how he played but offensively stats look good in Norway and before that in QMJHL.

Nikita is physically strong and has a good shot. 2 years ago he played in HK "Riga" and was one of the best defence (he was only 17).

iihf didn't allow free transactions between olimpija and medveščak. so, we don't have a farm team.

i hate iihf sooooo much!

Interesting question...

Popovic - Montador
Carle - Foster
Klubertanz - Katic
Kolesnikovs (U22)

That leaves Martinovic, Waugh, MacAulay and Letang as healthy scratches.

IIHF screw us (and Olimpija) big time.

i have a question regarding the khl roster rules, and it is about recalling and assigning player into/from the farm team (which we don't have, but whatever). are there any restrictions (ie. only injured players could be removed from the roster or something like that) and what are the proceedings (does it take lot of time, or it is only notification to the league like in the nhl) ? i was wonderig, when medvescak is on the road, could they take let say 27 players (25 on roster + 2 extras) and if coach wants, they remove one or two guys before the game and put these extra guys in? thnx.

Yeah, I'm sure those other Austrian teams didn't have any issue with one team suddenly gaining free players out of no where...

the only problem with the austrian league would be there foreigners-regulation.

I wonder then how Dinamo Rīga can just send some guys to Jokipojat from Finnish Mestis... Or perhaps Jokipojat is just happy that Dinamo is doing selection work for them and paying the salaries?

They're not exactly on the same level nor in numbers as the ones Lubljana would have gotten.

I wonder why couldn't Zagreb keep a team in EBEL, perhaps with smaller budget. Is it budget issue (I presume EBEL team costs some money too).
Then perhaps Italian league could have been an option?

Then again Riga doesn't have a farm club too. The relationship with Jokipojat is somewhat different.

I dont get euro leagues... they should be happy that KHL teams increase their product on ice by sending players here. It is not only Medvescak/KHL vs Olimpija/EBEL but also Lev Praha/KHL and Sparta Praha/ELH. Lev can not have Sparta as farm, there is cooperation, loan of players, but this model is not flexible enough. Only Slovan/KHL and Skalica/SVK have classic farm-cooperation. I think similar "problem" will be among Jokerit/KHL and SML as well.

Price would be too high for what we would get... playing time for four players that are odd in KHL team. We don't have homegrown players who are capable to play at least at mid-level in EBEL, so basically that farm-team would be consisted of 15 foreginers and maybe few domestic players who finished their junior internships in Czech/Slovakia/Austria.

Sure, you don't have a farm team, but you have very good team in best junior league in Europe and in case of some injuries you always can call up and give few minutes to Bicevskis, Upitis, M.Lipsbergs, a privilege we don't have.

that is a reason why Medvescak and Slovan/Lev/Jokerit must join MHL one day. It is a big different if you send juniors to EBYSL/czech/slovak jr league or MHL. Of course, it does not solve problem of elder players....
