I'd rather beat a real NHL team in the final game of the season, but it could certainly be worse. It's like when big time NCAA football teams pay a small Division II school at the beginning of the season so they can kick the **** out of them for some confidence.

Depends if they play LA but regardless of opponent, Tarasenko is going to have an incredibly short leash in the playoffs. And even if he's playing relatively well he will hardly see the ice in a tie game in the 3rd or if they're protecting a lead.

If Sobotka could take his shot and make it a lil faster in release and improve accuracy...he could have been a 15 goal scorer this year easily

I would like to see Tarasenko net one here just to help get his confidence back up before the playoffs.

Good thing is that it looks like Elliott is focused and playing a good, solid game. Hawks have actually had some pretty good chances. Hope he keeps this focus for the playoffs.

Boston has to play hard at home vs. Ottawa tomorrow to win the division. Even if they win in OT, need at least a point. Edit: Caps win in OT. Boston must win to win division. That would make Sens worst playoff team, our pick 45th assuming they don't go deep.

I can see the reasoning for sitting out Tarasenko once Oshie comes back, but I have to believe that the Blues are going to want this guy to get some ice time in the playoffs (even if it's just 4th line minutes).

I'm sure they consider him to be a big part of their future. Seems likely they're going to want to get him all the playoff experience he can get, both so that they can see how he responds and so that he's a more productive player moving forward.

Besides, it's not like he hasn't earned the shot with his play this season, and he's been wonderful for his KHL teams in the playoffs.

He's ALWAYS been that. But, when he's flying, and creating offence (scoring and setting up goals), at his best, he's still worth playing, over anyone that The Blues can use to replace him.

Next season, probably not.

Nice save by Elliott on that brekaway. Elliott has been nice and steady. Not spectacular, but positioning himself well, and making the simple required play with stick and glove. That's all we could ask. No chance Halak starts in playoff Game 1.

Agree. He will have to be affirmatively bad to sit for one of Cracknell/Reaves

Agreed, but then do you take the fourth and make it Cracknell-Porter-Tank?

Personally, I think that Cracknell, Porter, and Reaves have all earned NHL contracts as 4th liners. If our skilled guys on the top three lines can't make it there, move them. These guys have that special energy that translates to a good 4th line player. Sure Schwartz and some of the other top 9 forwards can play down on the 4th line, but they are better on other lines. These guys bring that 4th line energy and grit that more skilled players lack.
