New evidence is showing that Aaron Hernandez was indeed the lone gunman on the grassy knoll.

WAIT WHAT?!

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...lears-waivers/

No team wanted someone on trial for 1st degree murder?

Was this actually worth a news story? Of course no team wants him. That would be the worst PR move in the history of the NFL.

Hernandez being investigated for connection to another set of murders

Boston PD is building case against him there ,, Does not look good for Hernandez especially with this

Boston PD has located red SUV with RI plates it was looking for as identified in July 2012 homicide. Aaron Hernandez rented it.

Henry Melton just confirmed to methat he won't get a new contract and will play under the one-year franchise tag this season.

not shocking... he still wants Top5 DT money but needs to prove this. + he is not a fit to a 3-4 D

While I think the last part of your post is irrelevant, because I still don't see this team converting to a 3-4 defense, I too don't mind him playing under the tag this year. If he has another solid season, then we can work on signing him, but I'm good with him playing on the tag this year. He's improved, but still too inconsistent for a huge payday --- especially these silly contracts some of the DTs have been signing lately. Way over-valued.

After the 06 SB I swore off the NFL until Lovie was gone. He is a great defensive coach, but offensively he's like Dean Smith - the only man who could hold Jordan under 20 PPG. Now he's gone and I'm back. Some will question Trestman just because he's from the CFL, but he's a great offensive mind and Cutler put up numbers in Denver that no SB era QB has here. On Comcast's Sports Talk Live today they mentioned rumors of Cutler getting a new deal. I'm against this. It may not be his fault, but he needs to prove it here, and Trestman getting stuck with someone who may be mediocre would defeat the whole purpose of his signing.

Am I the only one who thinks it is a bad idea to go through this season without extending Cutler? We made real improvements to the O-line, got an offensive coach who likes to air it out and there really aren't any other options for the Bears if they don't resign Cutler. It seems like Flaco all over again. I see no reason other than health stopping Cutler from a career year. Let's just sign him now and save some money/cap.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but if you haven't followed the NFL in 7 years, how do you have an opinion on Cutler?

I'm on the fence about extending him. If they can get a friendly shortish extension now, I'd say do it. He's better than anything available.

I don't get how someone can just swear off an entire sport for a period of time like that

Well, it certainly is a make or break year for Cutler, which is a shame as I think that this will be a down year regardless for the Bears as I'm not seeing us keep our defense up at it's prior level under Lovie or being able to improve enough offensively to offset that decline under Trestman in just a single year.

Longterm, I think moving from Lovie to Trestman will be good, easily within three years, but think we'll have a worse record this upcoming year.

I don't consider watching the Bear's highlights after every game and checking his stats after every game "following the NFL". It's like the "true" Hawks fans only watching the SCF.

I used to think that way, but as I got older I gained wisdom. Spending time with my family is more important to me than watching a sport with very little action (like baseball) where many of the players can't run a 10 minute mile and a team that hasn't had a great QB since before SB I. Spending time with my family is more important to me than watching a team whose coach loses the SB, because he refuses to bench a QB whose regular season and playoff QB rating was < 74. Some seem to think Chicago is this great championship city, but excluding MJ we're one of the saddest cities for championships in the country. We have 5 teams and excluding MJ we've won very little. The Cubs haven't won since 1908 and the Sox went from 1917 to 2005 without winning. The Bears have won 1 SB. The Bulls only won with MJ. The Hawks won 3 SC from 1917-2009 and there were only 6 teams for the first 50 years. Lidstrom by himself has more than that. Enough said.

Trestman runs a timing, west coast style offense. Cutler may not be suited for it. He's not going to have a big enough year that it fundamentally changes how much money he'll get.

Lovie wasn't the problem, it was their drafting. I think the offense will be better this year but the D will get lit up more often and there is noooooo way they are scoring that much this year.

8-8.

I don't think Cutler will get too much more signing after this season than he would get now, unless we somehow make a deep playoff run. If hell sign the extension for 2-3 more years for a fair cap hit, if be fine with extending him. I'm also fine riding it out.
