How in the ...

According to ESPN, the Panthers had an average attendance of 16,991 per home game or 99.7% of capacity.

http://espn.go.com/nhl/attendance/_/sort/homePct

I thought capacity was 19,250? That would actually mean 88.3%. But even putting that aside, does this mean that they've artificially inflated things by eliminating Club Dead from the attendance count? We've all seen the gaping holes where no one sits there.

I'd guess they're not including the seats the team closes off to reduce capacity, yes.

You couldn't possibly be suggesting that Michael Yormark stretches the truth like a spandex bikini on a sumo wrestler?

ESPN isn't counting the area that gets tarped off in low attendance games. Typically, yes. The capacity for Panthers games is 19,250.

Thought they stopped tarping.

And while funny, that's a disturbing picture Desert. Lol

Attendance was much better overall than in the past. Especially with an absolutely devastating season where we were the worst team in the league and competing with the Heat coming off a championship the season prior.

It just says to me that playoffs can bring the fans out even if the same type of success doesn't continue. It could also be that enough of the casual fans know what progress is ahead despite a horrible season. I expect it to only grow in the next few seasons and we may soon have an actual hard time buying tickets for much cheaper than face value very soon.

This is why I scoff at the northerners who say nobody cares about hockey down here and how we don't deserve a team. People will come if there's success and I can't see how there won't be very very soon.

Per Yormark Club Red is over 75% sold out. Just cause the seats are empty doesn't mean they are not sold. I wonder what the turnstile count is for the games, actual amount of people that attend.

I'm sure on paper they are, but I don;t think they are 75% filled by paying customers at their asking price.

Very easy to manufacture those numbers.
