People who complain about Stephen Drew are just looking to ***** about something. He's smack dab in the middle of WAR for SS and that's even if you include the time missed and the April spring training (feeling out phase after missing so much time with the concussion). He's a very hot and cold bat, but as far as production out of the SS position he is fine now and I bet he will finish even better. Even with him struggling to hit for anything the last few games, he still brings that onbase property.
All this with VERY good defense. To the point where Iglesias's D isn't a huge upgrade (which is saying something).
In other words, for a one year stop gap (which was always the intention with him) Drew is doing exactly what we need him to.
I can understand wanting to play Iglesias...that's fine. I want him playing everyday too. Just not at the expense of exclusively Drew. Especially when Drew has been outhitting a premium bat position (WMB) and playing WAY better D than him too.
EDIT: I'm looking at some further statistics, and his home/road split is hilarious. The guy is an elite SS at home but is abysmal away.
