There! Offensive depth filled with old guys who will last the season (HAHAHAHAHA) and allow us time to stay competitive while developing the kids!

BRILLIANT!
Pass on Jagr, but if this was done why not having Jagr on the first, Chiasson on the second, and Cole on the third instead? Or even better if Whitney could be moved up, and Cole down with Eakin and Chiasson.

Because:

Whitney and Chiasson have something going and their center is basically superfluous. Plus the extra youth (read: energy and commitment) from Eakin will probably help eliminate some Whitney's age.

Cole and Benn need to play a straight line dump and chase or burn the outside game. This going up the middle **** doesn't work because everyone just holds the blue line.

And Jagr takes the place of James Neal as the line sniper/boardman.

Yeah, that Whitney-Chiasson chemistry was something special. It would be crazy to split them up.

Thanks.
Wasn't aware we were talking about past accomplishments. Piqued used the present tense of "be", not past tense.

Wat kind of play style does he have? Good at holding the play up, or is he more of a rush player like Wandell?

That's a pretty big comparison if true.

If we're being honest (and not insane like some of the comparisons that have been bandied about) this Juha-Matti Aaltonen guy is likely no better than guys like Colton Sceviour, Reilly Smith, and Travis Morin.

I say that because he scored 12 goals and 31 total points in 42 games in the SEL last year, which is typically thought of as a very comparable league in terms of skill to the AHL - I think the league equivalency factors worked out by Gabe Desjardins at Behind the Net typically give a very slight edge to the SEL, but that can change from year to year. That's basically the same rate or production as the top players on Texas were able to acheive last year, so I think it's a good comparison.

That being said he was playing on the worst team in the SEL and was their clearly their MVP, so the lack of quality among his team-mates may have negatively influenced his production. Still, at the end of the day I wouldn't expect anything more than capable 3rd / 4th line play out of this guy at the very most.

Those are some absolutely disgusting hands.

The (very) poor man's Jagr comparison doesn't seem too far off based on that highlight video, either.

decent hands, sure. However, he has a lot of time in a good bit of that highlight real. he will not get even close to that much time and ice in the American league, let alone the NHL. worth a shot, I suppose. I would need to see more of his actual game.

I'm getting a Linus Omark vibe from him.

Not saying he's gonna be the next big thing or anything, but that's probably what's catching most teams' eyes.

If you want to see him play live you can do it on Saturday when Finland faces Sweden in the quarterfinals.

Anyways he can be very dominating with the puck. The way he controls the tempo and play is incredible. Also has good speed with a mean streak.
I think he has ´Boom or Bust´ potential.

AHL is overally way below Elitserien, since the Swedish teams have alot of good 25-30 year old players when AHL is full of undeveloped prospects with more potential.

Aaltonen is very skilled player, but i'm afraid he won't be able to translate his game into NA hockey - he lives and dies by puck possession and is definately not very physical.

What do you guys think about getting Brunner?? He'd be a great 3rd liner who could jump in the top 6 when needed. He had a solid first year in the NHL and looks great so far in the playoffs.

Some Detroit fans don't think he'll be resigned cause they got younger depth in their system and are afraid of his asking price

From Fabian Brunnstrom to Fabian Brunner....here's hoping this one would be better in the Stars' system.
