Hopefully Gaunce and the Bulls pull off the comeback tonight and head to the OHL Final.

Agreed, Schroeder has to be hurt. No other reason not to call him up

FFFFUUUUUU I hope he doesn't have a serious injury. If he requires surgery, I'll be a sad panda.

There is a need at LW. Maybe Archibald take Sestito's spot and run with it?

I doubt they throw Archibald into the fire unless the team struggles. Although who knows. Vigneault didn't seem particularly pleased with the mish mash of Weise/Sestito/Pinizzotto/Ballard at that fourth line wing spot.

Gilman on the Team1040 made it sound like Schroeder wont be used in the 1st round, but he could be used later in the playoffs.

Sounds like he has an injury.

Game log shows his last game was April 20 vs. Millwaukee. Not in the last game vs. Grand Rapids.

I LOVE GAUNCE.

I wouldn't mind bringing up Lain and throwing him on the 4th to see what his FO ability is like.

I'm not sure now is the best time to be calling a guy up with no experience just to see what his faceoff ability is like. I mean, I don't like Ebbett either, but the playoffs probably aren't ideal for seeing what Lain can do.

If Schroeder isn't available. I wouldn't mind seeing what Gaunce could do. Pair him with Kassian and maybe Hansen and that line could have some serious bite.

Raymond - Lapierre - Jensen
Kassian - Gaunce - Hansen

I could live with that for game one.

Surprised no mention of D callups, like Vandermeer, or maybe even Peter Andersson, since they seem to view him as a legit prospect. The current lack of depth on D is a huge concern.

from what I have heard, Vandermeer has been underwhelming at the AHL level, although someone who watches more Wolves games can obviously provide more info than me.

Right now we have I am pretty sure

Hamhuis Garrison
Edler Bieksa
Alberts Corrado
Ballard Barker
Joslin

Also Tanev should be returning at some point during this series

That being said, our lack of D depth is concerning though, as tbh, most of it is **** players that I don't want to see play and I wish we had picked up a depth guy at the deadline.

I have no interest in putting a rookie center in for playoffs when he doesn't have a single NHL game on his resume. There are a number of options I go to before I go to that.

I don't think it makes any sense to put Jensen in the lineup on Lapierre's wing. If he's in the lineup it should be with Roy, although I don't think Jensen looked ready for the NHL regular season, never mind the playoffs. I wouldn't mind seeing a Jensen-Roy-Kassian line though, if Jensen did crack the line up (which I doubt).

Gaunce does make some sense to me. Obviously no experience, but he seems to be playing well right now so his size alone could be a better fit on the 4th line instead of Ebbett. Same with Lain to a degree; he's older and bigger than Gaunce and apparently a good face-off guy (although whether that continues at the top level is TBD). IF AV wants to keep Kesler and Roy together, I'd be all for giving either a chance in Ebbett's spot. If they look overwhelmed, staple them to the bench and end the experiment one game in.

I also thought there'd be more call-ups at this point. No salary cap, no roster restrictions, bring up all our prospects that could be ready for a call up in the next season or two imo.

I seem to recall reading one of "MS" updates in the Wolves thread that he thought Schroeder was playing injured. This would explain his not being called up.

I'd be surprised if he cracked 40% wins. Rookies tend to do very poorly.

lain's 23 years old. i dont think rookies are all that bad when they're essentially fully grown

still id be surprised if he beat 50% but 40% isnt a very high bar

Certainly, strength plays a role but I think experience counts for more.

Crosby hit 45% in his rookie year which I thought was quite good.

Jordan Schroeder is ~45%. Faceoffs are one of Lain's strengths.

I wouldn't call him up unless we're significantly injured, but I have no doubt he'd be a better LH faceoff option to Andrew effing Ebbett.

crosby was 18 though. strength has something to do with it but its also just one of those 'put in x hours, get f(x) good'. lains had 5 more years taking draws in university and the ahl versus crosby did when he entered the league

I think we somewhat agree in concept but perhaps not in our expectations.

Still, I don't think AV's the kind of guy who will try someone out in the playoffs.
