Out of Volpatti and Pinizzotto, who do you like better? I remember that one big hit from Pinizzotto in his first game, but I haven't really seen him stand out at all this season. I guess there is a positive to not standing out, but I hope he steps up his game in the playoffs. I liked what Volpatti brought to the Canucks. If Sestito plays, he better start throwing some hits.

Not to wish injury on anyone but we would be lucky if its ebbett and not someone like roy. So far our grinders seemed to be injury free this season and our top players constantly injured.

Raffi typically plays fairly nice against us or has the past few seasons, he seemed to like a lot of players on the team and was probably aware we wanted him at the deadline, guess we will find out though wednesday.

Volpatti

Though once again, Mike Gillis fails to address needs on the fourth line this season. Why am I not surprised

Just curious because we had to put volpatti on waivers just to bring up pinizzotto. I brought it up now because we've had a good amount of games to evaluate how pinizzotto has played.

Pinizotto can skate with the puck.

Volpatti can't.

We wouldn't be having this discussion about which plug we're going to have on our fourth line this post season if Gillis had gone out and got a serviceable fourth liner at the trade deadline

If this team is at full strength there are literally no holes, especially if you have Schroeder in the lineup.

Sedin Sedin Burrows
Higgins Roy Kesler
Raymond Schroeder Hansen
Booth Lapierre Kassian

Stop whining ffs. Even if you want to take Schroeder out and move Booth up with Kesler, you will have Weise Lapierre Kassian...hardly plugs

You honestly can't believe that the Canucks will be "at full strength" at any point in this year's playoffs do you? This is one of the most injury prone teams in the NHL we are talking about here.

Booth is done for the season.
Schroeder is injured at the moment.
Kesler hasn't been having any luck with injuries for about two years now.
Kassian has done nothing since February, ditto Raymond.

Take that many players away from any team and their lineup will look weak. Gillis was apparently close on Clowe and Torres. Unless you wanted to pick up more plugs, not much else he could have done.

I remember certain posters around here were convinced Pinner would be an upgrade on Volpatti before he'd played a single game.

That's why you go out and get depth. What happens if one of the bottom six players are out with an injury? Going to throw the rookie Gaunce into the wolves?

Even though Gaunce is on his way to Vancouver, I'm not sure he'll make much of an impact at all on our 3rd line.

Better than Ebbett I guess.

I doubt he would be better than Ebbett. Ebbett is what he is and that is a 13/14 NHL forward, AHL tweener. But that level is likely higher than where Gaunce is at given Gaunce doesn't even have a pro game to resume. Ebbett has 226 NHL games (35 in the playoffs) and about 250+ AHL games under his belt. I get he's not a superstar but I think people forget how huge that OHL to NHL jump is.

Heck while Corrado has looked good in two meaningless games we have no clue how he will respond in game 1 if he plays. If Corrado does play the odds are he will struggle and not be the lineup for game 2. Doesn't mean he isn't a promising prospect just that the jump in levels is a huge one and especially tough when you are trying to make that jump in days (i.e. not even getting a summer to train and get to where you need to be physically).

Gaunce is likely here for the experience. Learn about the preparation needed to succeed. He'll then take that knowledge and apply it in the summer. He likely isn't being brought in to actually play.
