I do agree with this. Ottawa is no joke and they have tons of players that can light it up. If the Pens want to move on, Vokoun (or Fleury) needs to play strong and the defense needs to step up.

The thing is, Ottawa vs. Pittsburgh is a whole different series. Team A gives team B fits but gets destroyed against team C - and vice versa.

Just take us in 2011. We took Pittsburgh and Boston to seven games each but swept Washington, the #1 team in the East. Nobody was expecting that. Even regular season matchups and results don't matter anymore.

That's the sweet thing about the playoffs: Everything can happen. The Pens had it harder than expected against the Isles but that doesn't automatically mean that they will have severe problems with the Sens. They're a whole different team with a different coach, system, roster, arena, fans... They could very well sweep them. Or get swept. Stranger things have happened.

I completely agree. My reason for taking the Sens is because the things that the Pens had trouble with against the Isles is something that the Sens do even better. Speed, tenacity, and throwing tons of shots on net. I'll take the Sens in 6.

I think NBC might have told Pierre MacGuire to tone it down. I guess the barrage of criticism this playoffs has found it's way in. He seemed to be pretty sedated during last night's Pens/Isles game.

I don't think that's the right way to go though.

The problem for me stems with being between the glass. I have yet to see anyone really make it worthwhile.

My thinking is to swap Pierre with Keith Jones.

I think Pierre would be good in the studio alongside Milbury as intermissions are pretty inherently boring, and his puppy-like enthusiasm for the game can be tolerated in that context.

Keith Jones is pretty interchangeable with Milbury IMO, but Milbury has the more fascinating meta. Jones and Milbury don't seem to disagree with each other much, and it's not like there's great chemistry between them.

Pierre might end up sucking up to Milbury, but I could see arguments between the two of them being pretty fun.

Pierre might see getting moved to the studio as a type of demotion, but like everyone else, he plays a role in the overall broadcast, and no one talks about what the between the glass guy said last game. They talk about the argument in the studio, or what controversial thing an analyst said.

Don Cherry is more famous and gets paid more than anybody and he just has his own studio segment.

Also, Bill Patrick > Liam McHugh, but I don't think either of them are always 'real' when they talk. Bill Patrick at least comes off like he's purposely dumbing it down where McHugh appears out of his depth.

what the hell ever happened to the "safe is death", balls to the wall offense John Tortorella? watching this caps-rangers series is agonizing. the really real reason to watch is to see if lundqvist manages to win the games by himself, which today he did.

I've been wondering that for a while now. What the hell happened to that mantra, John?

The Rangers are in serious trouble. If Lundqvist gives up 2 or more goals then the Rangers are most likely losing. There is no scoring support at all. Slightly different team that will end with the same result as last year.

Its not like they don't have the talent either. Kind of comparable to the 2004 Bolts.

Generalizing Vancouver to all Canadian cities, are we? But, Toronto blew a 4-1 lead, that is pretty hilarious.

The Leafs commanded the puck all game, and then reverted to chipping the puck out of the zone, and chasing it all over the ice in the last few minutes.

Same as a prevent defense in football...don't change your game in 4 minutes from what has significantly worked in the first 56. Should be a good OT! I wonder if it's gonna be inside of the first 5 minutes, or drag on awhile.

Bleh. Have I ever mentioned how much I hate the Boston Bruins? Not that I'd've liked to see the Leafs win. Just the Bruins to lose.

I would've rioted under similar circumstances

Edit: And don't forget that Montreal has their history too

I am incredibly OK with the fact that Washington is getting blown out.

Same. Lucic's face makes me want to punch something.
