That's probably a reasonable deal.

(and I ninja edited my post because I thought they finished lower)

I'd love to do that deal but Montreal has their pick

The thing about swapping 5-6 and 30-35; is the first part of the deal doesn't really make all that much sense.

Generally you want to be leap frogging someone when you move around. If Carolina has who they want to pick; and Calgary has a different guy then there's really no point. On the other hand, if Carolina wants the same guy as Calgary, then I don't think moving into the first round by a top 5 pick in the second round will get that deal done.
On the other hand, if Nashville was the team that was willing to play ball, that'd be great, because it removes the Raleigh boys from the equation, as to having to worry if they go and pick someone Calgary has in mind.

I think, under all circumstances, Calgary will either pick Barkov, Lindholm or Manahan either way. In that order as well.

If Barkov is there at the Canes pick, I would totally make that deal.

I never said Stamkos wasn't a franchise player? I simply said that I don't think Drouin is on Feaster's list of franchise players. Never said anything about Stamkos or Kane not being franchise guys, I just said that he will be an offensive player, and not much more; and that he will be a guy who can put up big numbers, however there won't be much difference between finishing 28th and 1st in his play.

Anybody watching Kane last night and saying he's not a franchise player is blind.

As a two way guy and leader? Sure. Toews is one of the best in the league. I'm saying that Kane is one of the best offensive players in the entire league, both in passing, dekes, and overall hockey IQ. If Drouin is available at our pick, I'm more than happy to have him if he becomes comparable to Kane.

I'd say that Toews, while being less skilled (but not by that much) and a different player on the ice, is what helps make Kane good.

Kane is naturally gifted with the real ability to score and make plays from nothing.

Toews also has that gift, but his real gift lies in his leadership, on the ice but maybe more importantly, off the ice. I think he's what keeps Kane humble and hardworking because if there's any grain of truth (and we know there is) to Toews' "Captain Serious" moniker, you know he's the one working hard in the training room and in practice, keeping the team grounded and most importantly, keeping Kane grounded.

In that way I'd say Toews is more important to the team, whereas Kane is no slouch but he's motivated by Toews.

I would take Toews no problem. Had only 7 less points this year than Kane anyway. Toews also plays on the PK while Kane didn't

I'd like Monahan. We want a !c who is great defensively as well as offensively. I'd trade a 90 point C with little defensive skill for a 75-80 point center who wins draws, and PK's.

Not saying that's what Lindholm and Monahan will be, just making a statement.

Honestly, I'll be happy with either. I love Monahan and love the way he plays the game. Lindholm would be a great fit on our team long term. Jankowski is a more of a similar player to Monahan so having a guy like Lindholm may be more beneficial to us long run. Ultimately though, I'm not gonna complain with either player.

After thinking about it more and more i say Monahan should be our pick. A complete player who is also a leader. I know Lindholm will likely be the better offensive player but players with the attributes like Monahan are the kind of guys that teams win cups with. Not saying that Lindholm isn't the type of player who can win cups either but Monahan is more built like those type of champions. Not to mention Monahan lead his team in scoring 38 points ahead of the second best guy. Still wouldn't be mad with Lindholm but Monahan just gives me this feeling like he'll be one of the best players from this draft.
