Rather play Bruins or Pens round 1?

Not sure if this thread was started already. But just wanna hear some thoughts on who you would rather play?

Originally I wanted the Pens because the series would be epic based on our recent rivalry. Plus we have to beat them anyway most likely if we want to move beyond Round 1/2.

But then I saw them SHALOCK the Hurricanes. And realized I'm not looking forward to potentially 4 straight 5-2 losses.

Therefore, I want the Bruins. Both opponents will be tough.

I don't care.

Don't think the Pens would start Voukun, therefore we might score a few goals.

Part of me does not care, just thrilled we are in.
The other part is pulling for the Bruins tonight.

I think you guys can hang with the pens. The islanders have a real dislike of the pens which goes back 2 seasons to that Dipietro fight. I think that hate will go a long way in fueling their fire. Secondly, the Isles have 2 legit scoring lines that could torment a questionable MAF.

Pick your poison.

It's tough. My decision depends on the health of the teams.

In my opinion, I think I would take a Crosby-less Penguins over the Bruins, but with Crosby practicing, I'm sure he's making a return soon.

I thought the Broonz had some injuries too, but don't hold me to that.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter to me. I BeLIeve.

Boston, hands down. They don't have the talent the Pens have and the B's have been struggling. I've seen in a few places that Isles fans want the Pens because it wouldn't be as physical a series as Isles-Boston would be. Maybe in the past, but Douglas Murray, Matt Cooke, Brooks Orpik, et all may have something to say about that. I want Boston.

Doesn't matter to me. Face the Pens now or in the next round. May as well play them now and get them out of the way.

Don't care. They present completely different match-ups, but if this team is destined to go on a run, it will go on a run irregardless of the first round opponent.

If the we do face the Pens, the question becomes: Does Bylsma have enough balls to start Vokoun against us? He OWNS the Isles.

Bruins.

They will beat us into the ground and make us work for a victory....BUT! I'd rather go up against their top-6 instead of Pittsburgh. We can only shut-down Crosby / Malkin for so long, and that's not even considering the task of facing Neal / Kunitz / Iginla and the classic Islander killers in Dupuis and Kennedy.

I also have a feeling that if they can get a series win against Boston then it will give the team more oomph moving forward. I dont know why.

First I though I would rather play the Pens. BUT

1) I have one super annoying Pens fan as a friend and I could not stand him if we lost...

2) That Pens roster when it is healthy.. Scary. Crosby, Malkin, Neal, Kunitz, Iginla, Jokinen...

So Boston it is!

It really doesn't matter. We are going to beat whichever team we face on our epic run.

Pens.

The Bruins may have less skill, but will dominate us physically.

as somebody said before, "pick you poison"

But I would rather play the Bruins, I just fear the Pens will blow us away

If we want to go anywhere in the playoffs, we're going to have to play both. I'd rather get rid of the Penguins first.

Pittsburgh because Fleury can be shaky at times. Also, the coaching staff could use an us against them mentality by bringing up Lemieux's remarks from a couple of years ago and how the entire hockey world thinks that they're unbeatable.

If Crosby is playing, Boston

If Crosby is not playing it is a toss up because you know the league would love to see Pittsburgh advance if Crosby is going to play at all so the officiating will be lopsided but Boston gives us fits physically and Rask is the most consistent goalie between the two teams

I'd rather face the Bruins, but only because it would mean the 7 seed so I don't have to suffer through people crying that they just eeked their way into the playoffs.

I think Boston is the toughest team in the East. Doesn't matter who we end up playing, anything can happen and every team in the playoffs can be dangerous for a stretch.

Boston. Yes, they can be physical, and yes, when they play to their size they're nearly unbeatable. But they're far less consistent than Pittsburgh, are much more undisciplined, and can be their own worst enemies at times. Plenty of non-physical teams have taken the Bruins to seven games recently...Vancouver in the Cup finals two seasons ago, Tampa Bay in the conference finals that same year, Washington last year beat them in seven. They're not always the team that roared back against Vancouver or the team that knuckles under for blood baths against Montreal. In fact, if they're not given a reason to unleash hell, they can appear downright disinterested in some games, even in the playoffs.

Pitt meanwhile has had nothing to play for for a while now this season and is still hurting teams. They have a scary efficiency about them and are the same elite team regardless of the circumstances, who is out of their lineup, etc.

Boston. They haven't looked unstoppable recently, they've lost some games down the stretch to lesser teams (Carolina, Philly, and Buffalo) and if the Isles can play the way they did on the 11th against them, then yes, the Isles can hang close and pull out some victories. It'll be a tough series, but that's the playoffs, and that's what these guys live for. Plus a couple guys have Boston roots and that'll be even that more incentive to play hard.

The Isles can hang with Pitt too but with the added emotion of a returning Crosby those first two games in Pitt will be damn near impossible to win.

And for selfish reasons, Boston is the only Eastern team I've never seen play live at the Coliseum......

Definitely Boston. Originally I was most scared of them, but they really haven't looked all that sharp this year. Pittsburgh gives me more than one reason why I don't want to play them, which is Vokoun (Isles killer), Crosby, Malkin, Iginla, Neal exc. exc. They would tear us apart. I actually feel like we have a chance against Boston even if it will be a tough one.

Bruins. They haven't been able to hold leads lately, which can definitely be used to our advantage.

Although something tells me a series against the Penguins could be really good. I don't think the Islanders will get wrecked, they'll hold their own against them.

I'd rather play Boston and hope he sens can upset the pens rather than getting lit up by Crosby and friends. Either way it's gonna be tough

Exactly my thinking. Play them now while Crosby is questionable for the first round. Plus I think Rask is a better goalie than Fleury.

This, I'd rather play Crosby "fresh" off an injury rather than in the second round after he has 5/6/7 games under his belt.
