We don't need to sign him to trade Cammy. Baertschi, Glencross, Stempniak, Hudler, Jones can all be top 6 wingers (at least in a rebuild). The only thing holding up trading Cammy is a lack of demand. We should be able to maximize his value at the deadline.

I think Millions started the Raymond rumour. It isn't surprising that there is no merit to it whatsoever.

Ugh..its scary that we are going to use Jones a top-6 winger.

Not necessarily. I listed five so we had options. Take your pick.

Is someone more twitter capable than I able to provide Dreger's tweet to Woger and ask WTF? (my twitter ability is limited to reading and following)

I'd be curious to see the response.

I think we should offer sheet Oliver Lauridsen from Philly as well as Gustav Nyquist from Detroit. Lauridsen might cost us a 3rd, while Nyquist might cost us a second.

I hope the Flames aren't interested in Raymound. Last thing the team needs.

If we actually got Nyquist for a second I'd be doing cartwheels everywhere all summer.

Here's the offer sheet breakdown

Quote:
$1,110,249 or below - No Compensation
Over $1,110,249 to $1,682,194 - 3rd round pick
Over $1,682,194 to $3,364,391 - 2nd round pick
Over $3,364,391 to $5,046,585 - 1st round pick, 3rd
Over $5,046,585 to $6,728,781 - 1st round pick, 2nd, 3rd
Over $6,728,781 To $8,410,976 - Two 1st Round Picks, 2nd, 3rd
Over $8,410,976 - Four 1st Round Pick
Even if we offered $3,364,391, Detroit would be in a very tight spot. If they accept, we just offer Smith $1.5 million.

Right now Detroit is trying hard to resign Cleary. I doubt they want to see Brunner go elsewhere either.

I bet Detroit would trade either Miller, Helm, Bertuzzi or Samuelsson right now for nothing.

I know about the rules, but I think they'd do pretty much anything before letting either Nyquist or Smith sign somewhere else for just a second rounder.
Either way I don't understand why Holland won't just let Cleary go. I get that he's probably the nicest guy in town but at some point you need to stop caring for your players and start caring for your team.

Brunner probably walks.

Any chnce you guys would be interested in something based around Glencross for Rundblad.

Thinking he might look good in Phoenix's top six. Perhaps with Ribeiro feeding him pucks and Shane Doan riding shot gun.

How about Hudler? Rundblad + for Hudler? Maybe Rundblad + Klesla? Any interest in bolstering the blueline?

Rundblad is apparently best friends with Tim Erixon. No wonder he's on his way out of his third NHL franchise at the age of 22.

PASS!

No, he really is buddies with Erixon:
Pre-draft piece on Erixon from 2009
Quote:
To make the accomplishment even more amazing, Erixon is joined on the Skelleftea blue line by David Rundblad, another player eligible for the Entry Draft for the first time this spring. Rundblad is ranked No. 6 among European prospects and also played for Sweden in the World Juniors.

The two young players are very close, despite playing the same position and competing for ice time.

"On the ice we are competitors; but off the ice, we are good friends," Rundblad told NHL.com. "It's great to have a friend my own age (on the team). We can talk to each other about all kinds of things."

And Rundblad is one of Erixon's biggest boosters.

"He is very good with the puck, great eyes, good on both offense and defense," Rundblad said, offering an impromptu scouting report.

In an unguarded moment, the more offensive-minded Rundblad admitted he wished he had more of Erixon's defensive-zone acumen.

"The way he reads the play in the defensive zone, he never makes a mistake there," Rundblad says.

Stubb, who has seen both youngsters an awful lot this season, has trouble picking the two players apart. Each is 6-foot-2 and about 190 pounds. Each, in his own way, has the makings of the classic power-play quarterback when he matures.

"(Erixon's) a little bit tougher, he likes to play the body more than Rundblad," Stubb said, reaching for technicalities.
And Phoenix is his third NHL franchise to date. To me that's a bit of a red flag.

Runblad is closer to busting than being an NHL dman, I wouldn't trade much to get him.

Well to me his career choices so far seem to mirror Erixon's. And their personal connection is the cherry on top. Not the kind of people I want to see in the Flames.

Unless it is a young top 4 defenseman I doubt it. As it stands now

Top 4:
Gio
Wideman
Brodie

Borderline top 4:
Butler
Russel

Bottom pair:
Smith
Breen
SOB
Cundari

Talked yesterday to a source at the NHL and another in California both of whom said they had heard the Oilers were working on a big deal NOT involving Ales Hemsky. Later in the evening the same California source told me the Flames and Caps also had discussions over the past three days and that the Devils and Blues continue to talk.

The Calgary/Washington talks center around a D-man heading to Washington with the return of "a significant prospect +"
who could Washington want Gio? Brodie?

If that rumor has any legs, Watson or Bowey are the only guys that make sense IF Gio was going the other way and I'd still want a 1st in addition.

What? So a player's friend's choices are now detrimental to said player? That's moronic. That's almost as bad as saying that because Rob Ford's sister got shot, it means that Rob Ford has gang ties. It's ludicrous to be honest.

Rundblad was traded by St Louis because they saw an oppurtunity to acquire a gamebreaker they had missed (Tarasenko). Ottawa used Runblad's high value to acquire a long term 2nd line center, something they needed.

Not everytime a player is traded means that something is wrong. Sometimes it's just that they have value and are the cost of doing business.

Rundblad hasn't had the best oppurtunity behind OEL and Yandle (plus the copious amounts of other dman Phoenix has). He's high potential and he'd be a great fit for a team in desperate need of some puck moving dman.
