Only $900k of it.

Money paid to Players on NHL SPCs (one-ways and two-ways) in another professional league will
not be counted against the Players’ Share, but will be counted against the NHL Club’s Averaged

follows:
a) In the case of a one-way SPC, the AA of such SPC less the then applicable NHL Minimum
Salary plus $375,000 (e.g., currently $900,000) will be counted against the Club’s
Averaged Club Salary

b) In the case of a two-way SPC, the total compensation (defined for these purposes as the
greater of: i) that League’s Year’s stated Paragraph 1 Minor League Salary and Bonuses

Bonuses of $2,850,000 (AA = 3,450,000) is Loaned to another professional League, the Player’s
Club will not receive a charge to its Averaged Club Salary for as long as such Player is on Loan.

I honestly am unsure what we are doing this off-season.

We are potentially letting SK eat up 2.1 million dollars in cap room to save cash.

We are potentially non-qualifying Mat Halischuk and Jon Blum because we want to get bigger, and they are redundant.

We have overpaid vets littering the roster.

We have two superstars paid at premium prices.

We have plenty of cap space and could easily drum up more.

But ....

All indications seem to be that we are uninterested in stretching our cap space. We reportedly have a plan to get bigger, but it also appears that most teams around the league are planning on doing similar things.

So, what truly is our game plan?

Last year we heard we are a cap team and had offers for suter/parise/weber all ready. This year we are eating cap room to save cash.

/end confused fan

Should of traded SK with Erat at the deadline. I know i called for SK getting moved. We could if at the very least got a 3rd rounder for him and we would not be sitting here hem hawing over it now.

We went over this before he got hurt. Weiss does very little for us. He isn't a significant upgrade over Legwand and Fisher at center.

I'd rather not wrap up that much money in Letang.

When we could draft a defenseman that actually plays...well, defense, for free, I agree.

Who might that be if Jones isn't there? We can't get NHL ready D-man in the 3rd round.

Stop with Letang. We don't have anything close to offer besides the 4th and we all know that isn't going anywhere.

That's assuming Jones will be there at 4, which I'm thinking is likely.

Apparently, he's holding out for even more. In the thread, it says that he turned down $8/7yrs from the Pens.

Why on earth would Pit do that. They can get at least 2 1st round picks for Letang.

And it's not the rights to Letang. He's signed for one more year. The other thing is, if we did trade for him, we could then sign him to an 8 year deal since he'd be under contract with us for the upcoming season.

I have no interest in him but wanted to clarify these points for discussion. Hope I'm right on the 8 year part....lol.

That is a very interesting assumption of other teams willingness to trade their picks and roster players to fit your whim.

Well in fairness the Calgary trade was offered to Colorado for the 1st I guess to take Jones. NJD would maybe do that trade as many think they will draft fucale and he would probably still be there at 22. The letang thing is never going to happen.
