Is it just me or are these playoffs a little stale? The only series I found really interesting was the Sens and Habs series which I have to admit was pretty amazing. Other than that I haven't really been as engaged with the other teams as I have been in the past.
Great ending to a very good series. That said, I'm glad Chicago's moving on - the LAK / CHI series should be a good one. I would really like to see an LAK / PIT final, but PIT / CHI would be interesting too.
Bruins? Can't count 'em out, but PIT is just so stacked.
The only diff between Holden and my own original predictions were I have BOS > PIT...
But... that said, I'm second guessing myself all the time... but this was my thought process (truncated):
CHI > LAK, but will be effing tight...
Possession: LAK > CHI... but so close... it's #1 and #2 for teams that dominated possession in the league so far
Goaltending: LAK > CHI... took Quick long enough to wake up but that's variance for ya... peaking goalies at right time is awesome
SH%: CHI > LA... while SH% tends to regress to the mean, all people's means are not the same... show me a bad On-Ice SH% year for Crosby or Stamkos...
BOS > PIT, this is the one I keep going back and forth over...
Possession: BOS > PIT, but of course this sample includes a large part where they had less team depth, ex: Glass on 3rd line , now they are basically running 3 possession lines too, like these other 3 teams
Goaltending: Rask >/< Vokoun.................... sorry MAF, this is the change that's throwing me off the most... MAF is not that great of a goalie (at least not as solid as he's touted due to SC rings) I was expecting them to be stubborn and ride MAF
SH%: PIT > BOS... 2 players can sustain high OnIce SH% and only one of these 4 teams has one of these guys
LAK > BOS
Possession: LAK > BOS, while this season's samples are tough to tell for sure due to no cross conference games, last season they both were in similar spots so I'm just going to guess it's similar
Goaltending: LAK > BOS, reg season seemed like it be the other way but Quick is hitting a hot streak but also at the same time returning more to his norm
SH%: LAK = BOS neither team really has players that are superstar SH% raising players, they play more by dominating possession and scoring chances in volumes than quality... so doesn't matter anyways
Now watch me fall on my face like I did with OTT/MTL... JK
The great thing about sports anything can happen
