boston has lots of brian campbell already in girard and jillson, but don't have a lot of boynton's qualities.. for boston to move boynton's importance from their blueline, they'd want something a little more established/consistent then connolly to atleast make up the loss of boynton...

same as connolly imo, they want a guy that they don't have to worry about being productive...

however, if oconnell is comfortable enough with rolston being the 2nd line guy, then brown would be a good fit as the third line center.. not at the cost of boynton though..

I don't like your first proposal . Buffalo keeps Connolly and Campbell. No deal.

Am I overrating Boynton when I think he's a top 2 defenseman?

I wouldn't make the trade if I were Boston but then again I might be over valuing him.

He might become one eventually, but by no means is he a legit #2. More like a #4 who plays a #1 role for his own team.

Which is why it doesn't make sense for me. With a questionable goalie situation, a good defenseman with upside is even more valuable to the B's. We have plenty of holes. At this point, defense is important.
