Ahh, man.

"What were your favorite NHL team and player when you were growing up?

Favorite NHL team was a rival of Colorado, which is funny; the Red Wings. My favorite player was Nicklas Lidstrom. I love how he played the game, how smooth and scary he was in his decision making which was always very simple and good."

Haha I was about to comment on the same thing. Interesting because they keep talking about him being an Avalanche fan in the media at the time but it seems that wasn't the case.

Wasn't O'Reilly a Wings fan too?

Wow. Guess the ability to market him as a Avs fan since childhood, like Duchene, went out the window.

Didn't Drouin say he grew up dreaming of playing on a line with Sakic and Forsberg?

O'Reilly, Landeskog, Wilson... I don't think it really matters at the end of the day.

For the mortal sin of being a Red Wing fan we hereby sentence young Seth Jones to 20 years of defending the blue-line for the Avalanche.

Seriously though...that's too damn funny after so many people kept talking about how big of an AVs fan he was and what a great story line this is.

Out of the top 3, Drouin is a Avs fan.

And for that mortal sin, sentence that boy to 20 years of fun in the sun. He's the Panthers #1 over-all.

Yeah, it isn't being publicized at all though. Basically the only reference I found to it was in one interview where it isn't put in a direct quote but mentioned directly after some quotes as a closer to the main part of the article.

Wasn't there a picture of Seth that looked like Duchene's? I guess either I'm crazy or that was some photoshop magic.

Eurolanche is better than the entire Denver Post team of clowns combined.

**** Hedman would do wonders for this D.
i don't expect Jones to be a stud until 2-3 seasons in due to being a defenseman.
i think he'll put up solid points and provide better than average defensive play.
he'll likely begin to come into his own during the middle of his second season and then ascend in his third.
i expect that of all defensemen. but i want the problem seemingly solved and not some BS where we rely on Zanon and other healthy scratch types to play top 2-3 pairing minutes.

People knew all along he was a Wings fan and idolized Nick Lidstrom. Hell, if there's one Wing for him to be a huge fan of, I'm glad it's Nick. He plays like him, too. Very good smarts, calm demeanor and great in all 3 zones.

Wings fan or not, he became a hockey player with assistance from Sakic. That's all that matters.

I don't think he was a diehard Wings fan compared to Avs. I think he was just a Lidstrom fan which made him sort of like the Wings.

Yeah, true. Never really thought he was a diehard or anything.

I love how the Eurolanche is owning the DP these days. Interviews, insider news... shows how lazy Dater and crew really are.

Maybe the reason the AVs are so closed-lip over everything isn't because they won't talk, it's because they don't like talking to Dater.

I will say this though, I'm thankful for Eurolanche doing this and sharing it with us.

With his attitude 90% of the time I wouldn't blame them. Don't think that is really the case though.

Would have been if we hadn't have found out he was a Red Wings fan.
