Who do you think coaches the Avs NEXT season, not the rest of the way even if Sacco is fired?

I almost thought Sacco was canned already and this was the thread about who exactly the new coach actually was....

SCREW YOU FOR RUINING MY HAPPINESS.

On a side not, the next head coach will be Matt Hunwick.

Set expectations for this organization as low as it can go. Expect Sacco.

I voted Quinn, but unfortunately I'm preparing myself for another season of Sacco.

Why not put Cooper on there? I guess hes the "Other" but he should have his own spot IMO.

Regardless, I voted Roy as the 'realistic' best option.

The temerity would be off the charts if they kept Sacco going into next season. I hope to hell they aren't that obtuse.

I wanted to put Cooper on there, but being in TB's affiliate you'd have to think he's more inclined to be their new head coach. So the 'Other' option can still include him and other candidates that aren't attached to other nhl teams in terms of connections (e.g. Cooper with TB)

If not Cooper, Eakins gets my nod.

Of course, the Avs will select Quinn.

Voted Sacco, Avs don't have the balls to fire him. He has already survived a 21 losses out of 22 games stretch and got an extention. So why know when we've only lost 12 of 16?

I have no faith in the current leadership, and Im embarrassed for Joe Sakic being included in that. Until PL is gone this team will be stuck in 13 + years in the past

Pros and Cons on Cooper please.

I really like the bald guy who was coach of Atlanta before they moved.

Voted other, but after all I've read, I'm almost sure management has a plan for another year of intentional tanking in order to stock up on future talent.

I put something up before... but he's basically one of the most intelligent coaches to find his way up to the NHL in years.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/...be-caps-radar/

Longest winning streak in hockey, tons of guys developed well under him. His players love him. Wins everywhere he goes. There is really no cons to be had with him that I am aware of besides perhaps the fact he's never faced adversity with a roster to date.

When he signs with Tampa, Eakins would be a great consolation prize. Just look at what the guy did for Kadri's career.

Just read what they have to say about Cooper...

Basically, this alone does the talking.

Quote:
The Admirals closed the regular season with a North American record of 28 straight victories. They finished 55-18-1-2 and outscored opponents, 273-180. The numbers for Cooper are even more impressive:

*He has a record of 401-164-38 over the last nine seasons.

*He has four championships, plus three regular-season titles.

*He has been named Coach of the Year in the AHL, the United States Hockey League and the North American Hockey League.

*He is 94-44-10-8 during his two AHL seasons.

*Prior to leading Norfolk, Cooper went 84-27-9 with Green Bay of the USHL. The Gamblers had just 32 points the year before Cooper took over, and he led the greatest turnaround in league history by guiding them to 82 points and the first of two straight regular-season championships.

*In five seasons as the general manager and coach of the St. Louis Bandits of the NAHL, Cooper went 223-93-17. He led the Bandits to two titles and was named NAHL Coach of the Year in 2005-06 and 2007-08.

We shouldn't do this. It'll just make his inevitable hiring by another team sting that much more...

Does anyone else have a terrified feeling that if they keep Sacco for next season and somehow have the audacity to give him another extension if they get off to a hot start, that players like O'Reilly, Johnson, Duchene, Parenteau etc will ask for trades? Because I sure as hell would request a one way ticket out of Colorado if he was my coach for 4 years even if I grew up a fan of the team

I would pick Martin, but i think it will be Quinn or Granatto or maybe Eric Lacroix.

I think Craig Ramsay is more suited to being an assistant coach than head coach. Next to Larry Robinson he seems to be one of the best teachers in the game. Sadly both of them are where they want to be for personal reasons, so there is no poaching them.

I want Eakins as the next head coach. His players seem to love playing for him, he's done a great job educating players for Leafs and he's a demanding guy in the right way.

I want Boucher. Stay away from Ruff. We really don't need another head coach who finds attachment with our GM and is impossible the get rid of.

I mentioned him last year as well, but I'd really like Peter Horacek from everything I've heard.

http://predators.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=36988

He's apparently excellent with development, accountability, and has a unique style of getting through to his players. I've heard he knows how to deal with different personalities and really imposes the all-for-one, one-for-all mentality as a team game. He's been with the Predators for 10 years now and is an x's and o's type guy, really knows his hockey. As a side note, he has overcome cancer in his life and has spoken about how he communicates and transfers that strength and belief into every player, something Nashville has had to do over the years on a limited budget with limited "natural" ability.

Anyways, no idea if he's even in consideration, just somebody I've heard a ton of good things about.

--

For real, though... if Patrick wants it, yes please. Time to kick ass and separate the men from the boys for the rebuild/retool/whatever.
