That's because Sacco was also a more Defensive coach. He was just a bad coach in general, so his system was bad.

If we had a guy like Laviolette, or Boudreau(Boy did we ever miss out last year) we would likely be a Top 10 team in scoring.

I do agree that Tippett might be able to do more with more offensive guys on the team, but I don't think he'd be a good fit for us. I wouldn't be disappointed if we had him coaching us next year, he just wouldn't be in my first couple of choices.

Dean Chynoweth is a strong candidate to be the next Avalanche coach. He's working for the farm team (ahl) of the Avalanche as the head coach

If this happens, nothing changes. With Lacroix "stepping down" I don't see this mistake happening again.

Welp..... Certainly not my 1st choice, or 2nd choice, or 3rd choice.

You know what, he probably wasn't my 10th choice.

Pretty disappointing if that turns out to be true, when you consider all of the good coaches that are available now(Ruff, Boucher, Gwodz, etc.) and then potentially even more this summer(Tippett, Roy, Laviolette, etc.).

For like the 5th coach change in a row, we celebrate when they get fired even though we know, a worse option is coming in.

I don't know much about Chynoweth but I certainly doesn't feel exciting to promote our AHL-coach, again.

If the team wants to get better they need to commit to not having a bottom 10 payroll, they need to address organizational needs like not having the worst defense of all time (which means cutting ties with players like Hunwick, O'Brien, and Zanon and replacing them with guys that can actually play the position), players like EJ (needs to live up the billing), and Landeskog (lets face it he was disappointing this year, could be injury but he needs to re-focus), ROR (I know the physical side is there, but he needs to decide if he wants to commit to playing for the Avs or if he just wants out of Duchene's shadow), and Stastny need to take a page out of Duchene's book and re-dedicate themselves to being the best they can be.

Hopefully the new coach won't be a pushover and will get on some of these young guys to get better and not use age as an excuse anymore.

A new coach won't mean much unless management will commit to changing the things listed above.
This. The entire organization must be on a mission if they want to go to the playoffs. This group needs leadership and dedication if they ever want to go to the next level. If I was PL, I would have Sakic talk to them about being on a mission and what it takes to get to the next level. I'd have him share some of his experiences, particularly the plane ride home from the 2000 Western Conference Finals, when they all decided that next season they would all be 100% dedicated to winning the cup, no matter what. That is the type of dedication we will need going forward.

Like I said yesterday, I would be shocked if he wasn't fired. But firing him was the easy part. Finding a good replacement is the tricky part and until Avs show they can avoid the failed practices of the past, they don't deserve much credit.

Why not?
PL probably goes after Roy and if he gets denied (and he probably will) he will promote the guy who missed the AHL playoffs by 9 points in order to take the Avs to the playoffs.....

It is painfully obvious that PL will not hire outside of the organisation...
PAINFULLY.
And I trust renaud lavoie as much as a I trust Bob McKenzie.
If he says something, there is some merit to it.
