A sock puppet would do a better job than Sacco.

I don't care who the next coach is as long as Sacco is gone.

I don't think they will fire Sacco. I think he will be around for at least a couple of more years. Very depressing.

Of course, the Avs will select Quinn.

With Cooper in Tampa now, he's my favorite for most realistic option for us (besides the whole not being in our organization already part, which I guess makes it kind of unrealistic ). I don't see the Avs going after a bigger name guy like Boucher or Ruff, and being an AHL coach they might be able to get a deal on Eakins. Only problem might be is that he's done so well with the Leafs prospects so far that the Leafs might use some of that MSLE money to beat any offer the Avs give in order to keep him the Marlies coach. Guess then it'd come down to how much his desire to coach in the NHL is worth monetarily.

Marlies coming to Rochester tomorrow and I'm going to the game, excited cause it's damn near impossible to find an AHL stream so it'll be the first time I get to see them this season. If I can remember I'll come back here and share just how much better he seemed than Sacco.

Still hoping to see Lake Erie next week too but money's tight enough that the $15/$20 could be too much.

f Boucher doesn't change his system, taking him as Avs coach would be a mistake imo.. unless/when D corpse is significantly improved.

Let's not forget that, depending on the Phoenix situation, Dave Tippett may be available. Experience, proven ability to lead a crap roster, proven ability to turn crap defensemen into a shutdown team of playoff caliber.

Tippett is not good at developing young forwards. I don't think he'd be a good fit on this team.

I don't necessarily disagree, but I'd be willing to give him a chance over Sacco or anyone else listed in this thread except maybe Eakins.

You can't sacrifice one for the sake of the other and I'd rather gauge my eyes out than be forced to be a fan of a Tippet coached team.

I kinda feel the same way. That was the biggest complaint from fans about him, was there was no defensive system, just like here.

I also wonder if he asks too much of his players with his inventive systems. That's why it only really worked in the first year, then took a nose dive in the 2nd, and was even worse the 3rd.

His tenure was kinda similar to Sacco's, except Sacco didn't go as deep in the playoffs his first year, and was re-upped after his 3rd.

My thoughts exactly. Don't care how 'great' he is, never been a fan.

What about Ron Wilson?
I wonder how a tandem of Wilson and Jacques Martin would look?
I know Martin wants a HC position but they are plenty of former bench
bosses that have taken asst. coach jobs, esp. if the price is right

I'm not convinced the price would be right. When was the last time the Avs paid for a big-name coach (or even a goalie coach)?

Wilson is a terrible coach. Old fashioned, non communicative and sarcastic in how he deals with both players and media.

There isn't much that would make me stop being an Avs fan. Hiring Ron Wilson would.

I always remember that big debacle game TB against the Flyers last year where PHI sat in the def. zone for what seemed like an eternity and TB just sat back in the neutral zone, then Martin St. Louis went to his bench with his hands in the air saying to Boucher 'Well now what?"
