I like the 2 Halifax guys alot but even if Jones doesnt produce offensively at the NHL level just his physical tool set alone put him above those two IMO.

I see him as a tier above because there's no way in hell we can go another year without adding an elite dman to our team. If we needed a forward, obviously it would be different.

PS: That said, Drouin does intrigue me. We need a winger. Not as bad as an anchor on our D, but still.

Stastny isn't going to fetch Trouba.

We might deal Stastny for Little type package, because Little has played Wing before and is a Sherman target...and I don't think I'd be too upset with that myself.

I still don't get the trade EJ talk. As good as Jones is he is not going to fix this defense by himself. Unless we're aiming to draft Reinhart or Ekblad next season I don't see the point in trading EJ.

That would be unreal but I cant see the Jets doing that for 1 year of Stastny.

If they did that our defense would be unreal though.

I would probably then trade the WPG 1st + Barrie to get into the Top 10 of the draft and take Monahan.

EJ was not being compared to Phillips coming out of his draft. Not even close.

Is Jones a 100% lock to make the team next year?

Except wasn't EJ considered pretty much a can't miss prospect when he was taken? Hell, even after his first couple seasons people were drooling at how good he could become. Don't know that I buy that.

Unless we get about five NHL-worthy defensemen to round out our top six, I'd say yes.

Yeah .. I remember the EJ hype. It didn't only last for his draft but carried over to the next one. EJ was suppose to be AMAZING. I don't know much about Jones and admit my fear of him is based on history but EJ/Jones have similar hype right now.

Well, if you don't personally think Jones is going to fix our Defense by himself, then he shouldn't be the guy we pick in your opinion.

He might not entirely fix it next year. But he will certainly make it a lot better. Give him 2 years in the league and he will be a monster, no doubt about it. He will single handily fix the Avs defense in 2 years.

I don't think he said he was compared to Philips AT THE TIME.

I'd say so. Would be pointless to keep him in junior and he'd probably be our best defensemen.

No, definitely keep EJ. No matter what unless we make a brilliant move that makes our D-corps 300 percent better, EJ will still be our number one. He's a good guy to learn from even though he's not all that great, and if Jones (hopefully) rounds out in to a solid anchor, EJ will be a great number two.

I'm even more afraid than. Avalanche can't rush him because our current lack of defensemen. No way there that stupid. Only plays if he's ready right? Throwing an 18 year old D man into the fire who isn't ready .. not even the Avs would do that

Elliott isn't a lock next year, folks. He had a strong finish to the season, but that doesn't make him a lock. Putting him the AHL to start the year wouldn't be terrible, especially if he's playing with Seimens again down there.

No rush to trade anyone, but I think Barrie is capable of making the switch to the left side of the three. When the Avs dropped down to 5 d at time to end the year, he was the righty that moved to the left.

No way we should consider trading EJ.

I mean if TBL wants to offer us Drouin +, I might have to think about it. I mean the guy is an Avs fan! (not a freaking Deadwing ).

Nah. All we need is a solid coach right now and we are looking good even with PL still in charge.
Get a solid coach and it might go down as a franchise changing offseason. We now absolutely have to keep one of ROR / Stastny.
What an offseason this will be...

On another note. Did Seth Jones ever comment positively about the possibility of coming to Denver???

I mean they asked him on air and he kind of dodged it but does anyone really know how he feels about the Avs??

It will be a huge mistake when this team drafts Jones.

Why trade Erik? Big right handed dmen are so hard to find. having two solidifies your top two pairings and both PP units for the foreseeable future.

I know we give Stastny a hard time here but him with Kane riding shotgun is incredibly tempting.

EJ's development got thrown off by the injury and then getting pushed out of STL by Petro which landed him in a total mess with the Avs at a time where he needs some stability and help to start unleashing his potential more regularly. And EJ's still become a quality shutdown first pairing guy.
