Ugly, ugly losses for the Isles and Leafs.

Callahan was on for 18 PPGA last year with Henrik Lundqvist in net.
Dupuis was on for 14 PPGA last year with Marc-Andre Freury and Brent Johnson in net.

Who is the more effective PKer? Callahan because he blocks shots? He's a warrior? lol
Re-read what I wrote. It's not just about TOI on the PK, it's also about the situations in which he's used. I'd argue that Callahan's 20+ TOI is actually a detriment to his game. He's always out there in the worst situations where he's needed for his defense. Pascal is a good penalty killer, no doubt. So is Callahan.

NYR's PP has been woeful going on 3 years for whatever reason. And, honestly, I think Staal and Sullivan are roughly comparable to Dubinsky and Richards. That's not a slam dunk in the Rangers favor by any stretch. Dubinsky had a **** year last year and scored a whopping two goals this year. Jordan Staal is #2 C on most teams in this league.

4 minutes per game with Crosby is 4 more than Callahan had. And how about this year?

Your analysis didn't resemble "very comparable". I think you were trying to make it clear that Dupuis > Callahan, not that Dupuis = Callahan.

Wind the clock back to Dupuis @ 28 and Ryan Callahan @ 28 and their careers aren't even in the same ballpark. 76 goals for Dupuis, 105 for Callahan. 76 assists for Dupuis. 93 for Callahan.

A lot of this has to do with the relative strengths of the teams they play for, too. Pittsburgh is obviously a loaded team with a roster that decimates most NHL rosters by a mile. Having success with a team like that (that's been consistently at the top of the league for years) isn't isolated to players like Pascal Dupuis.

A perfect guy to use is Ruslan Fedotenko. Look at his production with the Pens and then with the Rangers in roughly the same amount of games. Pens production is roughly 25% greater. How about Jordan Staal, who went from the third line in Pittsburgh to 1st/2nd in Carolina and saw his production decrease?

Ask yourself if Dupuis was a Ranger would he have similar production? I don't think so.

So what happened to James Neal?

Why does every thread need to be a Callahan thread?

At least I got my Lundqvist hater reputation for ******** on him after he gives up bad goals or has bad games, when I'm emotional. Not on nights when he's not playing.

Islanders looked less than ordinary. On a few occasions, I swear none of them were even moving as Pittsburgh went to work.
They looked so out of position, just a sitting duck for the Penguins who I thought might have ended up with 7 or 8 goals.

This is where people can see whether Capuano should be on the short list for the Jack Adams. Let's see what he can do with his team. Personally, I don't think he should be anywhere near the Jack Adams based on the regular season. I know the award is for the regular season, but since I don't vote on the award, I always look at what a coach does in the real season, the playoffs.

Eh, I'm never shocked when an entire team gets the deer-in-headlights look when they're as young of a team as the Isles are and they're playing in their first game. I seem to remember a Pens team going down 6-1 against the Senators in their first playoff game after a rebuild in 2007. That game ended up 6-3 in the tradition of blowouts everywhere, but the feel was the same. The Penguins won game 2, but lost the series 4-1.

Those experiences are good for up and coming hockey teams. The 1980 Edmonton Oilers got swept by the Flyers too.

Or, you can look at it as the Islanders aren't that good and he got them in the playoffs and now they're just getting exposed by a far superior squad.

The commentator doing the Sharks-Canucks game just called the green men two 40-year-old virgins and asked if they lived in their moms' basements.

I hate no players. (Pyatt may be lone exception) I just find it irritating when Rangers fans overrated them and then get on their case when they fail to meet expectations.

And what exactly are you talking about? The general consensus on here was all for trading Hagelin and Stepan early in the year when they were snakebitten and I defended them both. I defended Del Zotto for weeks. Example was when Moore missed the net 3 consecutive times on the PP with hard slap shots, yet he was getting praised on here for having a good shot. If that was Del Zotto, there would be 10 pg GDT dedicate to 'Del Zaster' themes. I've defended Lundqvist pretty much every single game. Girardi, who everyone on the board has written off, I still believe he is the 2nd/3rd best defender on the team and that we'd be so screwed without him playing half the game for us.

I just don't voice the Girardi/Del Zotto opinions as much as I used to because I'll get blasted on here for it. The two sacrificial goats on HFNYR.

To respond to the Moore part: Moore has poise and drive to shoot. DZ is terrified to and shoots crappy floaters. Hesitant as well. And not once did I see anyone want to trade Hagelin.
