So glad I'll finally be able to watch a game live for a change. One of those rare instances that the later start actually works to my advantage.

Go Wings!

I'm always with idea of getting a split when you open on the road is the goal.

Pavel and Hank scoring is a given but I expect Getzlaf and Perry to cancel them out for the most part. What will matter is Franzen/Filppula/Abdelkader/Nyquist vs. Selanne/Ryan/Cogliano...we rarely see the Wings win if the secondary scoring isn't there. I can see the Wings have the edge on the checking lines with the way the bottom six has been playing.

The biggest thing with the defense...no bad turnovers and move their feet and avoid repetitive lazy clutch and grab/tripping penalties. The Ducks and Wings are about equal in skating but the Wings have had trouble with the teams that play with pace...Chicago is the obvious example this year. Plus, this can't be a series where the Ducks get the majority of power plays. Teams like them, the Sharks and the Canucks can be beaten if you stay out of the box...you can generally win if it stays mostly 5-on-5.

As far as in net, I favor Howard just because he's battle-tested and he's hot right now. Getting out of the second round has been his downfall but he's a good first round goalie. If Hiller outplays him, I doubt they win.

On the benches, Babs has the experience but I don't see there being a huge advantage between the coaches...Boudreau has playoff experience but just not the success of the Babcock. Babs need to be a matchup fiend in this series and don't always keep Hank and Pavel together when the offense gets sluggish.

Don't forget Tootoo/Eaves vs. whoever the Ducks throw out on the fourth line!

The one thing that scares me most and I hope we don't see is Brunner (or any other forward) on the blueline on the PP. I don't think the added skill is worth the defensive liability it creates. It's been driving me crazy all season and I hope we eliminate that plan for the playoffs

Detroit has been playing playoff intensity hockey for the past 4-5 games now so I think they might be able to catch the Ducks flat footed out of the gate. My prediction: Wings win 4-2 Mule x2, Pav, Nyquist

LGRW!!

Conflicted feelings. Think Wings take the first game though.

One of these days, Nyquist's hustle will create a multi-goal game. I'l be shocked if we don't steal one in Anaheim... To be honest, I might be dissapointed if we don't take both.

Abdelkader is the key to this series.

I feel a lot better going into this year than I did stumbling into last year. So much so that I think the Wings will advance in 4. No sense in going back to Cali when you don't have to.

Keep the foot on the gas; we play like we have been playing and I love our chances.
Stay out of the box. Their PP is frightening, we stay disciplined I think we take the series in 6.
